Just take it to a repairman
If between connection area of cover and laptop's rest is too much stress. there should be too much brightness which varies by the angle of cover and laptop itself. Someone i know repaired that issue with changing wiring inbetween. But its a hp laptop you must go quite deep to get to the mainboard, which there is a possiblity you can't collect the pieces together. And must buy that connectivity part.
But some laptops are just soldiered from some connections. So you should youtube it to see. Its a engineers part to get the soldier work, most likely won't be recoverable.
On the other hand I've taken apart entire laptops just to get to the connector on the motherboard because the wires on the screen were soldered. I've also called them a total loss because the 17" replacement screen equated to more than half of the cost of a new laptop, and you don't spend that on a 3+ year old machine.
Long story short, Google the price of a replacement screen, and a (youtube) tutorial on how to replace it. If you're lucky, it's cheap and easy.
