Light bleed after dropping laptop
My laptop accidentally dropped to the floor about a week ago. Today, I notice that there seems to be more light bleed, especially on the right side. Does anyone know if accidental drops and hits to the screen increase light bleed? It is possible that the light bleed was there before the accident, but it seems that it is more noticeable now.

Whats a light bleed?

Just take it to a repairman

Any stress to or near your screen can cause permanent screen damage. It is also irreparable. You are better off just buying a new laptop, or turn it into a desktop and use an external monitor. Be more careful from now on. Consider yourself fortunate that it is only a mildly annoying, slightly noticeable "light bleed".

Should probably call a priest if your laptop starts bleeding.

I know I am ultimately responsible. It wasn't exactly me that did it. The young lady in my life was using it, then a little monster came up to her and knocked it to the floor. It is only a tad annoying, but it is distracting, nevertheless. I wonder if a warranty program from Dell would cover something like this in the future, should I buy a replacement. I have been looking to buy a new gaminng laptop for years.

if the demage is about connectivity between graphics or cpu to monitor which is laptops cover
If between connection area of cover and laptop's rest is too much stress. there should be too much brightness which varies by the angle of cover and laptop itself. Someone i know repaired that issue with changing wiring inbetween. But its a hp laptop you must go quite deep to get to the mainboard, which there is a possiblity you can't collect the pieces together. And must buy that connectivity part.
But some laptops are just soldiered from some connections. So you should youtube it to see. Its a engineers part to get the soldier work, most likely won't be recoverable.

I have extremely strong doubts that a warranty will ever cover screen damage. Warranties are more for stuff like HDD failures, etc. You have to treat your laptop like your man jewels. Always be prepared to guard them from imminent dangers.

On Screen? Maybe you damaged the display panel

Even brand new screens can have light bleed, don’t worry about it

I had an idiot friend who completely annihilated his screen by cleaning it. You have to be careful even when cleaning the screen. Pressing too hard will damage it. I don't use any pressure when I clean my screen.

I've replaced a screen on a laptop the other day where the replacement screen cost 60 bucks, took two screws and some careful manipulation to unclick the front bezel, and four screws and a connector to remove the old screen. A literal five minute job.

On the other hand I've taken apart entire laptops just to get to the connector on the motherboard because the wires on the screen were soldered. I've also called them a total loss because the 17" replacement screen equated to more than half of the cost of a new laptop, and you don't spend that on a 3+ year old machine.

Long story short, Google the price of a replacement screen, and a (youtube) tutorial on how to replace it. If you're lucky, it's cheap and easy.

I finally had the screen replaced by the OEM. The chassis is brand new, the screen is brand new, and there is no more light bleed. Although light bleed is minor, it is distracting, and gaming is much better on a screen without light bleed.
