Why is TLJ getting so much hate?

Well he kind of is, he is a terrible teacher to Anakin which helps lead him down the dark side, which is why he says I have failed you in Revenge of the Sith. He learns from his mistakes by A New Hope but doesn't have enough time to teach Luke. The Jedi themselves are the problem as Luke says in this movie. Luke's major failing is that instead of creating a new order to replace the Jedi Luke just abandons everything without thinking of how the dark side could grow.
The really sad part is, In the film Novelizations and the Radio Plays, Old Ben is actually pretty cool.

Luke pull the same move he does, and runs away to a spot important to the story. Ben picked Vader's home planet because who in their right mind would look for him att he home of the person killing everyone. Luke does the EXACT same thing, except he does so at the birth place of the Jedi while hiding from having to make new jedi. His death is even similar. Pointless but imparting a lesson on both sides.

No, I am pretty sure the fact that he was mentally unstable played a big part, but also that Obi Wan started training him immediately after being appointed a Jedi played a part to. Qui Gon was a crappy Jedi, and trained a crappy student. Remember, that is a plot point in EP1. Qui Gon doesn't give two damns about the order and does what he wants.

Dude was trained by a master class Jedi who didn't like the Jedi. His strength was the fact that he is pretty much on par with a Sith mindset wise, and when he gets zen in his old age, he drops the ball.

Obi Wan teaches Luke Nothing. They spent a pleasant car ride together.

Suddenly Luke is an Ace dog fighter and master of 360 no-scopes.

Even Yoda give Ben crap in Empire for sucking at his job.

You clearly no not one thing about star wars lore, Obi wan gave luke a ride of his life and he learned how to drive and fly every vehicle just by how smooth that car ride was.
