The bigger your monitor, the bigger your mouse pad needs to be. Or get a smaller mouse.

I don't know if it's "cheap," but as a gamer and a space enthusiast, I really love this particular mouse pad:

Finding a keyboard tray large enough for it wasn't easy though, but I got one eventually.

I don't know what a great one is- after having many.

I went with many RGB XL pads and they can look like a million bucks- especially at night. They functionally are better with a large surface area to roll the mouse on and to house the keyboard.

Another hidden benefit is they can be strategically used for more cable management. If one is willing to drill into/through the desk it is possible to make the cables seem to vanish.

However, they do smudge easily and must be cleaned fairly regularly. I lint brush can work well for removing dirt- but stains are another deal. By the time the pad gets old, they aren't coming out and the pad likely was EOL anyways.

I also like mine to have no obvious branding. Part of it is because I like minimalism. The other part is I don't do free advertising. If they want to be seen, they gotta pay up.

Lastly, my observation is they tend to last maybe 2 years. It is doubtful that there truly are that many manufacturers and they truly are all that different.

Just rip the side off a cardboard box or notepad.

In a year or two if it goes bad just rip another side off and use it.

IKEA has some depending on your stores. Otherwise a PU leather dining mat works.

I had a Zowie GSR that was really nice but i wanted to change my fps set up to an ultra wide mousepad combined with a one handed keyboard and I went with the KTRIO brand on Amazon. It feels great.

I´ve got an asus rog sheath mouse pad.

Mainly because it´s red and black which is the theme of the PC when i built it, and there stands "republic of gamers" which i thought was nice - as it´s a political mouse pad.

But as a mousepad it works well, and still looks as new after like 5 or more years (when You clean it every now and then). Can recommend. Should be around 20,-€
