Why is rap so vulgar?
I don't like rap for a variety of reasons (lack of musical progression, instrumentation, harmony, etc.), but that's personal opinion.

What is absolutely not debatable is how vulgar rap can often be. It's not even a novelty, it's part and parcel of the genre.

Why do you think rap as a genre relies so heavily on vulgar themes?

Because he's curious if anyone knows, most likely. It's a big reason I think rap is so disgusting, and I don't understand its popularity.

Rap is funny for me to listen to and sometimes the lyrics go hard.

“The sun done
Yep, the sun done
Came up, but we still up in dungeon
The DunDun
Yep, in London
Competition, why yes I would love some”

hate it when i'm stuck in london in a dungeon, can see why they'd complain
It's about real life man, if you ask these questions you dont get even the slightest piece out of it. Life is hard, vulgar and sexist.

Depends on the artist you're listening to really.

Other than it being personal opinion, it is related to the realistic lives the majority of people live.
"The Hood Life."
Money, poverty, addiction; messed up ways people cope with their poor living standards.
It is completely understandable music.

Most rap is mature content for a reason.

I grew up with rap all my life. Shoutout to my hometown hero Tech N9ne.

I see many reasons why rap can be vulgar, with what I believe to be the most acceptable answer, to show a somewhat powerful meaning in what they say.
New rap is crap. Old school rap talked about how life is was tough in the inner cities and life on the street and how they had to grow up on the streets and being forced in to gangs slinging dope to make a buck. And how the white cops would pull a black brother out of the car and beat him just cause he was black. Rodney king comes to mind.

Then some rappers sang about blunts 40's and woman.

If you want harmony in rap then listen to bone thugs n harmony a very great group.

One is reminded of Filthy Frank's Bad Internet Rappers.

If you want to hear some really foul music throw on a album of 2 live crew. Their album and them was banned in about 10 states. All their songs talked about sex.
