Why is rap so vulgar?
I don't like rap for a variety of reasons (lack of musical progression, instrumentation, harmony, etc.), but that's personal opinion.

What is absolutely not debatable is how vulgar rap can often be. It's not even a novelty, it's part and parcel of the genre.

Why do you think rap as a genre relies so heavily on vulgar themes?

I find this post to be racist and rather horrifying. Rap and hip-hop were created by and mostly dominated by black people. To generalize like this is... Well, I feel it is wrong.

Let's change this up a bit, really drive the point home.

Let's do simple word replacement. Take out the word rap and substitute a race. Really makes this statement become far more uncomfortable.

If I wanted to sit and think about it I am sure I could come up with several artist's that do not use vulgar language or themes (as the OP put it).

We need to be careful when we use such sweeping statements about a group of people. Most of the time these statements are coming out of ignorance or hatred. In today's age it can be very difficult to find out if a person is speaking out of ignorance or hatred. Most people recognize that it is socially unacceptable to be blatantly racist. So, they are racists in other ways that are either more socially acceptable or one they can back off of, claiming ignorance.

There is a lot more I would like to add to this, but I think it would do nothing more than cause a huge arguments that would end in nothing but hurt feelings and unneeded verbal fights.

You are making an awful lot of assumptions, and coming up wrong on every one.

Not only is half my family black, but black artists are some of my favorite musicians. Dizzy Gillespie, Roy Eldridge, Louis Armstrong, Sister Rosetta Tharpe...fantastic musicians. Easy-E or Ice-T...not so much.

And you know, despite all that 'black music' I listen to, it's not slathered in slang terms for females or how big my ♥♥♥♥ is.

Again, the question remains: why is rap as a genre so vulgar?

No assumptions were made. I don't care what race you are. I am pointing out that to me the original question was racist. And it is very possible for a person to be racist against his own race.

You can live in a world comprised only of your preconceived assumptions if you want, the rest of us call that 'delusion'.

If anyone is racist here, it is you. The OP never, at any point in time, spoke about black people. He said he didn't like rap because of the vulgar themes and "lack of musical progression, instrumentation, and harmony."

The first thing you do is call him a racist, because YOU assumed that he was insulting the people.

You might as well be implying that black people are vulgar. Oh wait, that's exactly what you're doing. And the funny part is that you believe you're doing the world a favour by calling out Mr. Fajita Jim for the racist that he is. Wow, what a horrible human being. So evil. That was sarcasm, by the way.

To make youngsters more accustomed to all this moral corruption and ethical rot. And subsequently, more susceptible to all this sub-culture garbage. Rap certainly knows how to push.

Rap is like preaching. It's okay, as long as you don't allow it to overflow your head and as long as others take it way more seriously than you. I like hos. Somebody has to herd us some.

Because rap was crafted to make peoples miserable. Glorification of drugs, vulgarity, dumb excuses to a lot of bad behaviors (like cheating or robbing), promotion of gang culture, etc. It's a music genre for the weaks and that ensure they'll stay weak, they'll even learn to love their weakesses and cultivate them.

There is very little chances that rap gonna help you become a better person and a lot of chances it gonna have the opposite influence on you. Rap is a music for the weaks and to ensure to continue to make money, it ensure that you'll stay weak and learn to love it.

Why do you think rap as a genre relies so heavily on vulgar themes?

Probably because it's made by uneducated vulgar peoples living in dumpsters who think we want to know about their sh**y lives

Because it's about getting anger out into written form and it's usually about something that's a big deal to the person who wrote and performed the lyrics

Its cathartic

Then there's all the posers who try to sound tough in the rap space but they're clearly making stuff up, or they had a life that was easy enough to not be able to rap well

Anyone who listens to rhymes for enough of a time span, will, if they like the genre, will be able to spit lyrics freestyle if someone of something angers them, and it will make sense if they haven't drank any lean

And due to the anger, the frustration, and their chosen music genre, it just is

It's like asking why light jazz sounds so light. It's just the genre. Most of rap isn't good, but there's some heavyweight champions in the rap scene. Some of the lyrics make no sense from some artists, but if you want a non vulgar rapper that'll make your head spin, then check out Chris Turner. He does stand up comedy and then does a freestyle at the end with some complicated topics.

Jesus christ there's a lot of stereotypical replies in here, and some are plain wrong.

I'm out. Can't be bothered with a discussion about this, actually.

MadCrusader was bored, I guess. OT seems full of really bored people these days.
It has been invented to CONTROL those masses which have been badly treated and harshly ousted by the corrupt Rich, like Musk, (not every Rich is corrupt though) and deprived from their God-given Rights by those corrupt Big Cheese.

What we need is MORE populations that can think and function like Edgar Friendly, not like "wasted causes" who brag with their enslaved lives. The latter is the favourite template of Globalist Elites for the poor masses.

If you acknowledge that you are being treated wrong, very wrong, then music is NOT the thing you should thrive on, but to retaliate in hardcore terms. That's how 1789 Revolution happened. You can't achieve anything with Rap except a few good moments with your homies. I don't regard being a Drug Lord as a Life Achievement, sorry.

So, what was Edgar Friendly doing against totalitarianism? Why was he being hated by the "Supreme Leader"??? 👀
