Do you miss buying new PC games on disc
I miss it, you can only buy disc games on Amazon now and they just have a code to activate on steam. The old games you can get used on disc and sometimes new.

I know that feeling I have some old Computer games such as Sim City 2000, Gangsters, Sim Tower, Sims 1, Revenant, Cutthroats Terror On The High Seas, Commandos, and so on.
Trundle 9/mai./2019 às 2:40
used to have it once but always lost scratch break etc.
Doomerang 9/mai./2019 às 2:41
Honestly, I don't. I hated the feeling of buying a disk game and not having it run with no way to patch it.
swillfly 9/mai./2019 às 2:48
Yes and no. I liked having the physical backup for when whizbangs blew up but I didn't like always needing to update and patch games. I understand why retail games cost a lot but there is no reason (except for publisher greed) that digital only distributions demand ridiculously high prices. So if you're paying $50 or more for a downloaded game then I think you're getting ripped off.

It's a question about internet access.
No cause i don't own a dvd drive and really no one sells them any more and if they do they are really cheap made. Dvd burners went the way of VHS and cassettes.

Not really, I prefer the Xbox or the Playstation where they also gave you a manual with sometimes art or lore. The ones I had for the PC was just a simple case with a disc and code in it.

i think i'd enjoy looking at the cover of my video games, i'm sad that i cant do that, but at least my games won't get lost.

Not. One. Bit.

In the early 2000s I had 2 full paper boxes of cases and discs. Eventually I stuck them all in binders, but I still had 2 boxes of empty cases.

Then add in reinstalling something like Unreal Tourney 2004, which was 7 DVDs, or Cds, I forget.
Then add in misplacing one of those discs, in another case for example.

Or misplacing a case, and hunting for it to find a key after you gone through the trouble of installing from 7 discs.

Then add in hunting down patches.

..and this:

So, a resounding NO. I dont miss that one bit, and it is the primary reason I fell in love with Steam on day one nearly 16 years ago.

With internal DVD players being so cheap these days, it's comforting to know that I can take the CDs of one of my games and get it installed should I ever be on the move without a net connection. In the case of GOG, those games get stored on a flash drive that I can carry in my pocket. IMHO people have become far too reliant on WAN.

This isn't to say that digital download isn't convenient. I've got Red Dead Redemption 2 downloaded onto my PS4, so I can have a physical copy of another game (Spider-Man) and Red Dead Redemption 2 ready to play without having to go and swap out the discs.

Yes, especially the ones that only required partial installation and kept the music/video on the disk. Sometimes it seems like modern games don't care about how much space they take up.
Jej 9/mai./2019 às 5:25
I do. Especially when retail copies came with goodies such as maps.

Even with moving out multiple times the ammount of space they take is next to non-existent when using a multiple disc carrier.

Also, even though a few of my discs suffer from bitrot (mainly because I live in a humid area) I made multiple backups of my discs. Still, I'd much rather have hard copies of my game than for the games to be in a server that I won't be able to access it if it goes down or my internet connection does.

Plus, I can always borrow the games to other people which is something I can't do with Steam.

Not in the slightest. More premium editions of a game might have collection value, but for regular hard copies, moving around every few months with a truckload of them is a disaster.
