If a Minecraft world is infinite, how does the sun travel around it?
What is the meaning of life? What happens after we die? And more recently, If a Minecraft world is infinite, how does the sun travel around it?

Contrary to popular belief, the Minecraft world is actually infinite, in the sense that a single seed can theoretically generate an infinite world. It’s impossible to travel more than 29,999,994 blocks in any direction (and I don’t think you can set the worldborder any higher), but the world generation doesn’t stop there - you can go to the “edge” of the world and see the world go on far past the border.

It is also known that the Minecraft world is flat, not a sphere or cube. We know this because the gravitational force is constant no matter how high you go, which is true for infinite flat worlds (with thickness) but not with a sphere or cube.

Something else interesting is that no matter how high you go, the sun stays the same size. You’d think that if the sun were a certain distance from the overworld then it would appear bigger as you moved closer. Furthermore, the sun does go down over the horizon without (as far as we know) moving through the overworld.

Therefore, we have reached the conclusion that the sun is infinitely far away from the Minecraft world - so infinitely far away that it goes beyond the infiniteness of the overworld. Though we have a problem - how can an infinitely far object have any apparent size? For instance, if you were to travel further and further away from our sun, it would become smaller and smaller until it eventually disappeared. This is true for any object of finite size, which leads us to the next conclusion - that the Minecraft sun is infinitely large.

To summarize, the Minecraft sun is not a large ball in the sky - it is an infinitely large mass an infinite distance away from the overworld.

Ever heard of the Flat Earth theory?

Think of it as that.

The sun rises and sets on unloaded areas.

Because The Sun goes around the Earth with infinite speed.

Because what you're seeing is a different star (sorry, fusion reactor) every time.

the flat earth theory is assuming earth has an edge, in minecraft, the world is literally infinite, so in a sense, the sun would just crash directly in the earth

Maybe it's an optical illusion akin to rainbows (whose end you can never reach, either)? Meaning that the "sun" doesn't actually exist, but is the result of some other physical phenomenon. There must be some force like electromagnetism (light is broken when rainbows are formed). Maybe tied into space. Like gravity. Then having the result of a "sun" appearing in the "sky." But it's not "real."

2 theories

1 the minecraft world is a mega cube shaped planet with the player trapped in a 3million by 3million meter area by some magical force, this boundary is to keep the player from noticing odd effects of cube world gravity by locking them at the center of once of the faces (the world extends far beyond this border until it hits a 90 degree turn) gravity is kept nominal by having the planet hollow (less mass) the bedrock exists to hold the shape of the planet

2 the minecraft world is a advanced simulation hosted by a super computer created by a unknown race, explaining all the odd things about it

Back in the day it could have gone around the far lands or through the ghost chunks, but microsoft had to go and fix that.

The Minecraft world isn’t infinite at all. It has a limit. If you wanna compare then it’s 3 times bigger than Earth. And yes... Minecraft world is flat.

microsoft gae

imo the 1.14 update was garbo, its adding more uselessly complicated features, and is detracting from minecraft’s simple style

logically thinking, the new update added a banner of a minecraft planet in the shape of a cube, maybe minecraft is just some big on one face of the cube, the player never gets to the edge of the mine-earth

The sun travels around the world of Minecraft because it's a video game made for 10 year olds.
