I agree, been up all night watching the Eta Aquarids meteor shower here in New Zealand and it slipped my mind, till you mentioned it and duh click in my head.
Frank is a character Joji started back in his high school years just for fun with his friends, there was no "secret message of stupidity" in any shape or form, that's just something you as a viewer could have interpreted in such way. His videos did evolve from there to include references to popular culture, but it was still mocking and parody.
He made fun of Soundcloud rappers and edgy sad music, yet in the end he became just that. Go figure.
God's messenger now am I?
You mention: "there was no secret message of stupidity in any shape or form" ... "but it was still mocking and parody" ... so what's the difference?
I was just saying it's dark satire, which by definition is taking something negative like a stereotype or behaviour, and pushing it to the extremes it become stupidity to mock it. So yeah mocking and parody.
Wow am I really coming across like that in text... I said George or Joji (which is his nickname yeah).
whoops i didn't read down
The way you described his content is as if had depth and messages while it was blatantly visible on the surface what his motivation was to do a video...
Edit: i should probably give a better example here, for example on his song "yeah right", the whole video isnt just girls dancing around him all sexy, its him being sad and felt numb (in a sense) by all of the senseless "love".
I'ma ♥♥♥♥ up my life
I'ma ♥♥♥♥ up my life
We gon' party all night
She don't care if I die
This line shows it perfectly, he is with a girl who wants nothing long-term, she is there for the sex and the fun, but he is bored of doing this constantly and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ up his life with it all.
