Whats the difference between a villian and a super villian?
what makes a villian "super"? I'm just curious what the criteria is that makes the difference as plenty of people seem to use the term "super villian"? I thought the criteria would be that the villian has superpowers, but alot of people refer to characters with super powers as villians more often than not, where as Somebody like the Joker(who as far as I know, doesn't have any superpowers, just goons and things that can produced).

A villian has a gun, while a supervillian has two.

You sure about that?

There have been plenty of villains in history. Mao, Hilter, and Calliou.

yeah true villainy is an aesthetic consideration at odds with the perceptual norms of statecraft and powermongering. a villain is seen as such, and continues to persist unabated. mao, hitler, and the bald one are seen as heroes to many. this is not true villainy.

then, as the villain is a step above and beyond simple moral and ethical corruption, the elevation of evil to an art, a super villain must be as unto a saint of evil.

satan is a supervillain. baalzebub is a supervillain. The Adversary is a supervillain, and also literally God talking to himself using a hand puppet.

the next step up is godhood.

Well technically the last one is a cartoon, but his evil transcends all.

The villain is the bad guy.
The super villain is the bad guy with super-powers.

Same goes for hero and super hero.
