I have seen many situation in those movies where gun would had instantly solve a problem. Havent seen anything that would make me believe gun wouldnt work.
She sure left quite big question unanswered. Makes me wonder how she didnt thought about gun issue at all.
Speed. If you already aim at someone, they wont be even finishing the spell, let alone moving their wand before they drop on ground
