You could say that it's a subjective thing but if I could convince you to think the same based on the experience itself, then that matter of subjectivity would become questionable so...
If the technology got better it doesn't have to mean that the artistic impression has improved on equal basis.
I think it's a form of art that appeals to me. Stalkers sunset opposed to something like a sunset from a recent game like GTA or something.
You'd be surprised at how many games actually had lighting and dynamic shadows that worked, back then. Until VERY recently, FEAR 1's lighting/shadows were ... simply the best? Other games have since come out that supplant it, but... Fear 1's shadow and dynamic lights were astounding.
>_> Damn shame they still had sock puppet faces and the same 3 textures for literally every single character's skin (... they're layers on the same file, lol i looked).
