It's annoying to see a 5 year old post revived because someone wanted to express their opinion on how the other person is clearly wrong even though it is an opinion not a fact

If people wanted to talk about the topic then it wouldn't be dead to begin with.

When you just about to post a helpfull long post to op, only to realice he have not responded over years to the thread makes it rather useless and wasted time on effort.

in short just a waste of time.

Because threads die for a reason. Necro posting is pointless and it’s irritating to see an irrelevant thread from however long ago suddenly pop up.

He's dead jim. This man is worse than "dead jim", his brain is gone. He's dead jim. That's why.

I don't mind it if it's not against the rules. It's like people evolve opinions, let them speak. Maybe they don't want to create a new thread?

Have you ever actually seen this happen? Out of curiosity, of course.

Because it's against the rules.
And the rules are the only constant protecting us from the forces of chaos and madness.

No it isn't.

Read up on this for info, and

This is my reference, nowhere states it there:

Anything about necro-ing.

Unless I've figured out wrong please be free to correct me.

In the case that I am right, that's just an example of typical disinfo posting on Steam Off Topic.

Where one would assume to rely on information that is factual, this apparently isn't always the case.

Mhm. I’ve done it myself.

It’s actually preferred that people utilize the search function prior to starting threads as it’s in the “rules” here. It’s not against the rules unless a person is just bumping.
Well tbh I'm trying to get there myself and it's mixed results. I can't but state my opinion for one and sometimes the forums are a bit empty of interesting topics with all due respect.

But okay, my admiration for doing that M'lady.

Did someone say necro posting?
gugnihr Oct 17, 2020 @ 3:53am
Maybe it is just an habit people develop depending on the rules of the forums that they are most used to.
In some forums they prefer you to search for older discussion if there is any available, while in other forums prefer you to open a new one if the threads available are too old, I don't know why but the people responsible of a forum usually decide that and then people just get used to it, I think.

Interesting, didn't know some forums actually prefer you reopen old discussions if available.

It is much less frequent but the first forum I ever participated to was like that.
