But usually when something goes mainstream, many will hate it just because of that reason

Just ask the one who told you or wrote the review/blog/thing.
It gets worse when it becomes one of the most popular game for some time. That'll really set them off because "how dare people like something I hate" mindset.
This time is different because I can’t recognise who is playing them and it’s even more annoying than MC cultism. I miss the time I actually could ask a kid for Pokemon battle or trading.
