Max Payne, which is my favorite game, I didn't uninstall because to this day people make mods for the game, and I like to test them out and play through them to the end of the game. Besides, the original story never gets old, so the replay is perfect.
Rouge-like, like The Binding of Isaac I still have it installed because it's another one of my favorite games, and while it has huge replays and a lot of achievements, as well as challenges, daily challenges (not that I touch), and basically having to complete the game multiple times with all the available characters. On top of that, there's the (supposedly huge) upcoming and final DLC for the game and you still have the Workshop to check out some mods that are almost total-conversion.
I also play multiple story based choice games one time and I live with my choices. I did one play through of Mass Effect 1-3 and I was happy with how it all turned out
Edit: Oh... also when I stop liking a game.. if I don't want to play it anymore it's gone.
Also some old games can be condensed in size by using .bat files to run them in a single install of DOSBox, or using a source port + manager/loader. For example the classic Doom Engine games sold on Steam each has it's own install of DOSBox. Thus meaning you are installing DOSBox 7 times. Where the alternative of using ZDL + GZDoom uses much less space, and only needs the IWADS of those games to run. Sure these old games don't use much space to start with. However when you start looking at the number of old games using DOSBox it start to add up on the space usage real quick.
Same with me. I stopped caring about achievements last gen with 360 once I hit 100,000 gamer score without easy games. It all really was a waste of time and not worth the trouble.
I couldn’t imagine doing that on Steam cause I have so many games anyway. Best to complete them, uninstall to free space, then continue with other games.
I am starting to do that across all seven clients and six systems. Limit the number of installs to a few on each one. I really had overchoice overload this past week.
Precisely why I do this. It’s not just to free up space, but to avoid choice overload and to make games last longer.
I get a game on sale and then I’ll play it later as if I had just bought it then. It gives me that old feeling of buying a game from a store and playing it for the first time
