doesn't vehicle code 21658, a california vehicle code, doesn't it say it's legal to swerve from lane if done so safely?
isn't that vehicle code about lane swerving, and then vehicle code 22107. isn't that code refering to lane changes, not lane swerves? what's the difference between that code and code 21658? surely they both can't be talking about lane swerving within a lane could they? why would 2 seperate codes exist for same thing? i thought maybe code 21658 would be for lane swerving, and code 22107 about lane changes?

basically i got a ticket for code 22107, but the officer claimed i lane swerved(code 21658 is what i thought that was for), the cop said i was 1 year older than i am on the ticket, and mispelled the city name. and the officer can't prove i lane swerved 'unsafely'. if anything i lane swerved to increase safety.

CVC 22107: Unsafe Lane Change California

I don't personally fully know the road rules in California, but if it's similar to here in New Zealand. You have to indicate at least 3 seconds and have clearance, before making a lane change.

The cop is suggesting you didn't? So where you not indicating? Was a car in your path and you didn't check the blindspot?

It's not an expensive ticket, just figure out what you did wrong and learn how to actually drive correctly, rather than cry about it. Or get off the road... before you kill someone.

When a driver does not use the blinker or a hand signal before turning or changing lanes, he can be stopped by the police and also checked for DUI (Driving Under the Influence).

CVC 21658: Weaving or Lane Straddling

Refers to when a car is swiving back and forwards across the solid line of the lanes. If they do it more than two times with a length of approx 10 seconds, then they get pulled over and checked for DUI, falling asleep, medical condition, boy racing and/or marked as dangerous reckless driving.
