At 54 I've seen literally hundreds of metal bands all across the genre from Watain, Deicide to King Diamond, Slayer, WASP etc theres very few obscure bands I didn't get a chance to see mainly because they never toured the USA. Plus I had my own bands and was a guitarist in several local metal bands as well.

That said, its a very destructive lifestyle and most of my original friends are dead from some form of substance abuse or another so they ended up truly being "Death Metal" to the bone.

Bottom line, its just a bunch of worthless noise garbage and complete waste of time, effort and money that I should have put into something worthwhile.

Fear Factory have been Death Metal with some Grindcore influences until their sophomore, Demanufacture. That's why I posted a song off their debut and not nothing else.

There's one band I like now called Devil Within. It's a Japanese band but all the death vocals sound like they're in English.

I also like Yuzukingdom. I think their kind of music is described as trance metal. It's the first band I listened to which I liked the combination of the death growls and melodic singing, and also one of the first bands I didn't dislike the growling. I used to not like death vocals until I heard some music that I could feel the power or emotion.

Classic rock. Classic metal would be like Black Sabbath, some people say Judas Priest and Iron Maiden are both classical metal as well.

I've been listening to some Children of Bodom songs again in the past few months, which would be melodic death metal. I quite like their style in songs like Downfall, Hatebreeder and Bed of Razors. It's just... well.. musically satisfying. Like this song for instance:

Although I would like to listen to instrumental versions of these songs without the screaming. I guess it's part of the charm but I prefer to focus on the instruments instead of the singing. Can't really understand much of the lyrics anyway.
