Philips 55pus6703/12 Dimming Issue
I'm in need of help with my new tv, when HDR is on. The screen keeps dimming, which makes it very annoying when you watch movies or play games and such. I've been going insane because of this, which has made me turn off anything with HDR just so save myself from going crazy. I'd very much like to enable HDR but then it dims in and out. I'd appreciate any help!

Checklisted so far
- No Eco Sensor with this model
- Energy Saving is turned off
- Dynamic Contrast isn't visable in the settings while using HDR
- No Micro/Macro/Global Dimming in settings at all
- Everything worked perfect before TV purchase

Well it sounds like dynamic contrast is enabled even though it shouldn't be. Presumably it's an IPS panel, in which case, I'm surprised it would automatically disable dynamic contrast at all. An IPS will never achieve 'true' blacks' without it.

The Philips brand is a shadow of its former self, unfortunately.
That sounds about right, then again, in SDR I've tried turning Dynamic Contrast to maximum and I couldn't notice a difference at all. Which leads me to suspect this being some dimming feature...

Also, I'm pretty sure it's a VA panel, can't confirm that though.

Isn't the dimming feature part of TV's energy saving mode?

If yes, then try turning TV's all energy saving off and see if it works :MDoughnut:
As stated in my post, energy saving is turned off and there's no other energy options apart from that one..

Don't know what's up with that but that about it. It's just very odd...

Dimming and Dynamic Contrast are different things. The latter is required by IPS panels because despite having great colours, they have terrible contrast. Every time the screen goes dark, the brightness should dim automatically so that the picture doesn't look washed out.

I have a real love/hate of IPS. Love it at work. Hate it at home. I just cannot watch films or play cinematic games on an IPS display.
What ever this issue is, I should be able to turn it off. I've researched the exact same issue on YouTube and Google right. But every TV calls this a different thing, according to a few years old video or review it mentions micro dimming Pro being behind it. But I have no such thing within my settings.

I've tried Dynamic Contrast in SDR and it's definitely not my issue. This is something else... Sadly
