Games for chilled out driving
I just love driving at night, listening to my music, perfoming repetetive tasks, relaxint with no one around. Now I can hardly go spend the night driving around the neighborhood in my car... that'd be sorta expensive and probably also suspicious.

I'm looking for games to do this in, just relaxed driving. I did it in BeamNG drive and it was nice, but cars in that game have a tendency to randomly try to murder you. I have a G29 with shifter. GTA V and Watch Dogs are also things I've tried however they tend to spiral out of control, lots of dumb NPCs everywhere getting in the way and all the sudden you're in a vicious firefight.

So I'm not looking to a race or a rally, just wanna drive chill with no time limit and no real urgency. What's the best game to do this in? I don't mind traffic laws as long as the NPCs don't.

So I did reinstall the Crew and I got a problem. I've been at it for hours now.
It doesn't work for plug and play with the G29. Issue is, I can set all controls as keybinds no problem, but steering doesn't work. No matter if I turn left or right, it is just handled as "steer". And if "steer" is bound to turning in one direction, it can't be bound to the other direction, meaning I can only turn in one direction using wheel input. It's a gamebreaker and really frustrating. any ideas?
Burnout Paradise?
To me its pretty chill, but im guessing youre not looking for a game like that
Just figured to give my 2 cents on the matter
Would be nice if some of the sandbox games had traffic toggles once you complete the storyline.

I guess the nearest I can think of is some of the various Truck Driver simulator type games might fit.

^This ... also there's a buss one too.

maybe try bussid (bus simulator indonesia) its pretty good for chill
In essence for me GTA kind of did that before, and it's still a game if you choose to just roam around in the city so you can choose to go out of bounds or to brake rules if you so desire, but honestly.

GTA's specific to basically 'sandboxing' and violence which in GTA's case go hand in hand but to really truly enjoy driving around sort of mindlessly try.

Assetto Corsa or even Dirt Rally 2.0. I had burnt a lot of hours in these games with namely the first one having YouTube in the background where I could listen to countless music tracks or other documentaries and even some conspiracy theories so that's something I remember fondly.

It's very relaxing but.

Except of this I remember having fun in old games like Microsoft ehm City Driving or something like that :P and myself am also looking out for the topic in question because it interests me what people have to name in this regard of free roaming and chilling because it doesn't seem to be a main feature of attraction when designers are developing games it seems but for a few games that fit this bill, which one of would be something like Forza series, or one similar like that which has this free roaming function as a feature I believe. I can't remember the names correctly but that's not so bad. I remember something like Need for Speed series of games having this roamy-feel about them, so I guess in this OP regard this might come in handy.

Train simulators or Truck driving simulators are also nice but they are more of a niche as they don't appeal straight out of the box to a gamer like me, regardless worth mentioning though and I happen to like trains and trucks.

My dream game is a 1:1 driving game. All of America, utilizing the entire Bing or Google Maps dataset. Cars with accurately limited fuel. Traffic laws and Midtown Madness-style enforcement. Your town. My town. Everything in between. Custom races. Cannonball Run. Or just cruising.

The new MS Flight Sim shows that it's coming.

Someday. The Holy Grail of driving games right there.
I think this game works even though it's a rally. It has nice music and a nice artistic style. It's only semi-realistic and you don't get a navigator telling you what turns are coming up. The view is farther away from the car so you can see the road ahead more. It also has a free roam mode to just explore or look for collectibles.

If you just okay with horse then RDR 2 gives most chilling experience. This horse riding in beautiful open world along with great western music is pretty relaxing.

At one point I reckon you just want to make the horse run faster like 10 or 20 horses.

Hmm that is what some men say. That, riding on a horse is the best feeling in the world.

Agreed and even though not having done it myself on a horse necessarily (donkey as a kid) I remember the feeling and it's like nature is pure bliss, because she because; it. Makes things very customized for its 'creations' and otherwise inhabitants. (think of food like fruits and vegetables and environment like the sea and air and atmosphere).

Horses are an example of a living thing that's very customized I feel towards the human spirit and physique. I am not saying that the horses are 'made' for us, but just noting on how dependable on each other we are in a way, as sentient beings and how dependent on Earth or Nature we are as entities.
