oh. Well, that is speculation, but one does wonder why tencent wanted 40% of epic.
They are losing favour in China but people and governments outside China don't trust them enough for them to succeed under their own name and brand so instead they need to buy into existing ones to spread themselves further
I was reading about them being heavily invested in entertainment, but the site I was on tried to make me sign up for some crap, so I X'd it.

I mean NOW, it makes sense, since Fortnite is a friggin cash cow with every kid smashing their piggy banks to get their latest fix... er skins and emotes?
Next month fortnite updated Kids can't play mommy laptop/pc anymore. Lmao
no just no
Is it strange that all these champions of EGS seem to use the same powerpoint talking point?
^You mean astroturfing right?
No, I mean they say the exact same thing as epic about the 70/30 thing, and how epic is going to "change the future"

Like I get it, they took the money, now they have to speak the party line, but you'd think they'd spin it a little.

They see Netflix getting chipped away at and think "Yeah, we should totally get into that boat and aim our harpoons at valve."

Randy of course called himself a visionary, and this Fredrik Wester guy says it's about the market and "decency" when absolutely no one held a gun to his head about putting Paradox games on Steam.
In a nutshell: Paradox Entertainment got rich from selling games on steam, now they want even more money.
Paradox already got it. Epic pays for exclusivity. I don't think anyone has disclosed how much, but these companies are not going to EGS because they love the application.

People also still don't understand that he was talking about cuts and competition and not "Epic" as such. One might also remember that Tencent owns stocks in Paradox both directly and indirectly (via daughter companies) So it makes perfectly sense for them to be "semi neutral" and just say competition is good.

A business wanting more money, who'd have thunk it.

Plus, Epic games does nothing but ♥♥♥♥ over consumers with their Chinese spyware.
Give it up with the spyware ♥♥♥♥! Christ.. Your own government has collected more bloody data on you than China ever could!
are you trying to justify a company selling your data to the Chinese mafia?
So games made now don't have to have content that was included in games up to 20 years ago?

Boy Paradox really knows how to make money from some people.

To quote Oliver Twist, "Please sir can we have some more?"

its only $2.99 for rain
Snow and disasters also cost money.
