I don't waste my money.
There's plenty of games where you can get way more playtime for way less money. Hell, see Minecraft as an example as a game made longer than six years ago being improved and supported with new content not locked behind an extra wall of money. Or, again, Dwarf Fortress as the best example.

But I don't particularly like Minecraft. And DF is cool now and then but not for constant play.

And really time/money is rather meh as a measure, not every hour is of the same quality.

Paradox DLC is fine, most of it actually adds to the game. The same can't be said of games like Dead or Alive where it's a £1000 worth of costume DLC.
even those aren't too bad after all they are entirely optional and you don't lose out on any gameplay for not having them when you are looking for ridiculous DLC you need to take a look at things like the Sims 4 with its 7 separate DLCs that all cost the same as the base game alone and thats only scratching the surface

It doesn't lock core game features behind dlc, though, does it?

Neither do Paradox DLCs. By definition, what isn't in base game, is not "core".

You stop talking smack behind my back about my 800 bucks I spent on virtual lingerie.
That money could've helped pay the administrative costs of a charity that helps feed children in Africa. Or you could have just spent if on real lingerie.

Then the core game is busted. Try playing the current version with no dlc at all.

I did, is a bit more clunky and some convenient features are unavailable, but no biggie.

Some people don't support either one. The fact both options are bad doesn't make one of the good.

Spend your money however you like, I'll respect how you spend your money, please respect how others, like me, spend ours.

I was gifted Cities Skylines as a Christmas present last year and during this sale purchased the only DLC I wanted at the moment, the Ebook and MP3 upgrade they tried to hide from the store page for months as they didn't want people to buy it separately.

I was just happy to get the base game gifted to me but I wanted that DLC and Paradox tried to keep me and others from getting it for months because they wanted to increase sales of the Deluxe Edition.

That's a great company you're defending....NOT!.

I haven't passed comment on how you spend your money, I don't even know who the hell you are.

right its not like Paradox might have had to negotiate to gain the rights to sell those apart from the game itself and needed to limit the sales until that was sorted

is it wrong of me to hope that epic store improves their store and becomes a threat to steam?
Yes, because Steam is perfect at the moment.
88/12 if sustainable is a good thing, especially if it leads to the promised cheaper prices for customers, anti-competition anti-customer paid exclusives are not a good thing, publishers who sell out to the latter in an attempt to force me to an objectively inferior platform so they can benefit from the former will find themselves benefiting to the tune of 88% of nothing after I stop buying anything from their catalogue.

So far Paradox have not made that mistake, I hope that continues but if not there are plenty more games from more pro-customer publishers out there.

Paradox have their own store, anyways.

So do Ubisoft, I don't buy from them anymore.

You say Paradox DLC is fine, but it is not fine for everyone. My point was you should accept the fact everyone isn't going to see things your way.
