Any real open world RPGs like Daggerfall?

I need an open world fantasy RPG where I can just keep running across the map and explore lots of different places. Games like Asherons call and Daggerfall come to mind, anything else you can recommend?

Morrowind, easily the best if dated elder scrolls there is todate.
FF 15, arma 3, far cry 5, ghost recon wildlands, No mans sky (sort of), RDR2, AC odyssey, JC4, witcher wild hunt (comes in sections), skyrim.

Obviously there is more both bigger and smaller in size (i believe daggerfall is the daddy of open world) but its not about size but more of what is contained within it that should matter more.
Fallout games like 3 or vegas are often packed with interesting finds.

If it is about the size (I think it is, otherwise there are a lot of well known open world games out there) I think you cannot find any other single player game as big as Daggerfall, if you are fine with mmo then probably TES online would be a good choice, I have heard that it is even bigger with all the expansions (I have never tried it because I avoid mmo games).
They don't make single player games that big in size anymore.

I am sorry to read that. I did just purchase The Quest because it appears quite similar to Daggerfall, albeit a bit similar, but I'm fine with that if it does offer me a great open world that I can explore at will.

I just want to explore the world at will and find caves to raid, taverns to visit, enemies to find, etc.

The Quest is a very good game I played it and it is very fun and well made, more polished in the gameplay in many ways than Daggerfall too, but it is extremely smaller.
I suggest you to play it anyway because it is worth it, but if you were looking for a big world map you picked the wrong game.

Not that haven't already been listed. At least traditional open world RPGs.

You could always give something like the old republic a shot. You can play the entire game single player.

I'd love to say something like Xenoblade Chronicles but that's not really an option. Fallout franchise it's actually okay.

I guess you could technically call metal gear solid 5 a stealth action RPG. It's pretty dang open, lots of bass management, building and customizing equipment, finding all the little surprises.

ELEX huge map loads of places explore. Lots of running all over the map in that one to avoid getting one or two hit killed.

MGSO makes Morrowind look amazing.

Skyrim mods make Skyrim look amazing.

They are all great in their own way.

terrible combat is terrible and it cut most of the cool things daggerfall had

As a major fan on Morrowind I do agree.
I like it vanilla but I can see why others do not.
I highly recommend anyone play lore friendly mods with Morrowind to fix these rough areas of the game.

I think it is better too, but I do not think most new players agree and I understand why considering its age compared to Skyrims beauty and long list of content now.
