Use the Mojang Java version. The Microsoft Store version is cross compatible with mobile platform versions of the game, but they treat any resource/texture packs like paid DLC whereas with the Java version, you have a bigger modding community.

That being said, if you use the Mojang Java version, it’s highly recommend that if you want to go scowering for texture packs, you will need to use an ad blocker for your browser to avoid the rampant malware advertising some of the downloads on the lead you to.

I also recommend Optofine if you want to use shaders.
