Otherwise you can try Frets on Fire which I think is still around, Phase Shift which is listed on Steam but not available for purchase (there may have been free downloads on the devs' website?), O2Mania and Flash Flash Revolution which all involve keyboard controls and also Bemuse which can be played in your browser. Many more out there but I've only played a handful.
Not exactly a rythme game but you might enjoy it.
Yeah, that may happen on some songs. People have charted music for different types of the instruments the game supports (so far), a couple might be 6-fret which need the Guitar Hero Live controller. Most otherwise support the classic layout. Additionally if you go to the repository (banner on the top of the page) there's a spreadsheet full of setlists and such, example being all the setlists from past GH and RB games.
Although if something still isn't working best to ask support over on their Discord or try r/CloneHero reddit.
