What's the big deal about quinoa?
It used to be touted as a super food and now it's just basic food.

SO, is it any better or worse than rice as a grain?

Quinoa has a complete protein profile compared to other grains, so it is a healthy alternative for people who can't eat meat.

Rice is higher in carbs so for people who are diabetic or who have other blood sugar problems, they might want to avoid eating too much of it.

I don't get why normal food, gets to become "Vegan" just because its not meat.. Quinoa is great and tbh its a pretty nice addition to your chicken

What annoys me is how expensive quinoa can be.

Red quinoa is more expensive than white variants, but there shouldn't be too much of a difference.

I blame the health nuts and "organic foodies" for driving up the price. Same thing happened with acai berries.

Order it online, not expensive at all.

Actually looking at different prices online it seems to have gone down in price. My mom complained about getting a small bag of it from Aldi that costs about $10 for maybe... 8oz but that was probably a year ago.

Its real easy to make it eatable. Just add hot water, let it sit for a few mins and you have some good filler for like a salad or so. <3 Preferable with bacon hehe

It is quite good, but I didn't want some health nuts bragging on it so much. The process to shell the quinoa is what really makes it so expensive. The more you know.

I love quinoa and eat it a lot with all sorts of things.

It's almost exactly the same as rice. But smug college hipsters love it for some reason even though it requires slashing and burning of the rainforest to meet their demands of it.

Or maybe they're just super intelligent and cus they claim methane is the biggest contributor of global warming so that's why the meat industry is bad, that they realize removing the rainforest is good because the biggest contributor to methane is the Amazon rainforest which contributes more methane than all the oceans combined, and their outrage over burning rainforest earlier this year was just a funny prank

I've been eating it more but it's some plain-jane stuff. Really needs something along side it, at the least. It's not offensive in any way, just plain.
I prefer the white or yellow stuff because it cooks better.

Beware of the bad quinoa that doesn't open up properly when cooked and scratches your bumhole on the way out.

LOL butthole is censored but bum isn't.

Okay, good to know.

I eat quinoa for muscle building when working out. It has protein and amino acids but you can also get these from other foods and supplements.
