If you find out a exploit and report this and never use the exploit again, so long the exploit stays in the game, than you should not get banned.
If the software company inform the players about a exploit or the exploit is well known in a online game and you use the exploit to get a advantage, than you could get banned.
Mostly, the devs. fix those exploits real quick.
Banning people for playing the game in an unexpected way that nets some benefit the designer didn't think of is infantile and irresponsible, it's shirking the responsibility for having created something flawed. If there is a collision box misalignment on a map that allows a player to leave the map and rack up kill with impunity, fix the map!
A player should never get banned when he report a exploit, that he used one time. I agree, that this would be a bad game company, if they ban a player, that help to fix the issue.
Finding out? No.... using and abusing? Yes... and rightly so. Basically like already said:
No, that's not how it works. Developers decide the punishments. And Braed's suggestion that it's the developer's responsibility to not let him exploit the game is silly. If you're doing something wrong, especially knowingly, then don't be surprised if you get punished for it and good luck trying to use "it's your fault" as an excuse.
1-Is in game===ok.
2- is just casual, no problem, form my pov.
3-even in real life tournaments someone allways spam in fighting games so....
4-devs should fix those exploits if they are spotted, not to hunt down those that use them and ban them.
5-If that's the situation, then no wonder that online gaming goes way down time by time, mostly cuz of microtransactions.
And also no sane person would affirm their discoveries on some exploits, if they know that they get banned lol, when devs can fix things with patches.
Edit on 3: real life tournament,,, like esport tournaments, where players go there and compete for cash prize....for those that don't know, no offense to anyone ;)
Edit 2: for the record, i don't use any exploit in online games xD
And you're just going to excuse exploiting online games "cuz not my fault?" You know what happens if you try to use that excuse in the real world bud, for example in relation to banking, stocks, etc.? You get charged with financial fraud/crimes, have to pay massive fines and you go to prison. And "well it's not my fault u didn't fix it hurr durr!" isn't a legal defense. Similarly, game developers have no obligation to let people maliciously exploit their games without punishment.
If you think you can get away with something then hey, you go right on ahead but don't come to the forum expecting sympathy and a shoulder to cry on when the hammer comes down. You're a big boy, you make your own choices.
if a player is caught exploiting, let's say, glitching to an impassable spot in order spawncamp the enemy and level up faster. he gets a ban? surely rolling back his progress to a previous point makes much more sense then downright exiling him because he did something that's not supposed to be possible.
if it's a known exploit and the devs are actively working on it, sure, do whatever they want with that player. if devs make it clear that exploits should be reported privately and maybe even reward the one who discovered it in some way then more people would gladly report what they've found
