it sucks pretty hard in so many ways.
Then try to create "reasons" why your pokemon locked away is a good thing.
Much like pokemon bank largely only needed to exist because they kept PC box numbers low which didn't need to happens as 3ds use SSD cards.
Then try tried to tell you its a good thing because you get free BP/battle miles
They tried to say Bank was to help stop hacked pokemon and stuff, but even up to, and including Ultra sun/moon they were everywhere.
So GTS is gone and replaced they are saying.
And to me its sounds like, more cost cutting. Because from the article it sounds like as it says "When you send out a trade request with Y-Comm, you can continue to do your thing around the Galar Region." meaning you got to be playing the game for your trade request to be up vs gts where your requests stay up no matter what.
If you got poke ball plus and never redeemed the mew, you can redeem it at the start of S/S adventure.
And people in australia can play now.
Mew was found way after they found his DNA to create Mewtwo
Just sounds lazy.

Info (Corrupting SD card data not save data)
Some players are reporting that a crash during SwSh's autosave deleted their save data
https://www.reddit.com/r/pokemon/comments/dwky10/some_players_are_reporting_that_a_crash_during/
"In short, the data loss issue has been confirmed to be the result of the Nintendo Switch's exFAT driver, not the game. If you want to avoid the risk of data loss, it is highlight recommended that you reformat your SD card to use FAT32 instead of the exFAT file system that most newer SD cards come with by default. Instructions on how to do so using a Windows PC can be found here. Be sure to temporarily copy the files from your SD card onto your PC while reformatting it since formatting will erase the data from the SD card, but you can copy the data back onto the SD card after it is FAT32 formatted and your data should be safe from this system software bug afterward."
"Some notes to hopefully help reduce the risk of a corrupted SD card:
If you're on the fence between the eShop version and a cartridge, consider going with the cartridge. This issue has been reported primarily, though not exclusively, with the eShop versions.
Turn off auto-saves. Although not normally worth worrying about, the less writing that's done to a microSD card, the less wear it endures.
Use a microSD card that's formatted as FAT32 rather than exFAT. It appears there may be some issues with Nintendo's exFAT implementation (detailed here), and the English-speaking user who ran into the issue also confirms his SD card was exFAT formatted."
