Where are game pass games installed?!?!
I can't for the life of me find where the files for kingdom come deliverance are... I want to modify the files for the game. I've used the file explorer quick search and it just find ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ files that aren't the main game folder. Does microsoft just not want you to have the freedom of modifying the game?

Do a search for the exe on your pc. That will tell you where the files are at.

They're in a hidden locked WindowsApps folder that you're going to need to change permissions for in order to access.

Ok I did that, but I guess this means I can't use any mod managers because they would have to have access to that folder as well...

If you run your mod manager as an administrator (or as the user you've changed the owner to), it theoretically might work, but I've not tried it. The Xbox beta seems very finicky right now, even just to install things beyond a D: drive.

Well now I have access to the file, but I can't modify it in any way... and any option to change it is grayed out... What the ♥♥♥♥? It's my computer lol why can't I access my own ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ files
Permission on folder and files not just folder.

Dang! I mean I'm not surprised they did this, but it reminds me of the ancient DIVX products.

Yeah, if you want copies of games you want to fully mod then services like Xbox Game Pass often do not work very well, unfortunately.

Even installing games like Skyrim into protected areas of your PC like the Program Files folders can mess things up.

In the long run, you're better off just buying the game from Steam imho. Although I use both personally.

Why do people complain (if that's what you were even doing) about posting on old-ish threads? If they were not meant to be continued, then they would be archived like Reddit does.

Just don't subscribe to older threads if you don't want to still hear from them once they are beyond a certain time-frame.

I don't get that meme, which is what it is.

Because you were answering the original question. Way too late for that. Making a new comment is OK. Answering a year old question is not. I did a similar necro a while ago. I said that here in 2022 I still needed the answer that was posted 3? years ago. I was not answering an old question, just commenting on the old problem. No one complained.
