Looking for a game where you play as a nobody and isn't a chosen one.
Basically, I just want a story where there are no prophecies foretold, you're just a dude that starts off as a wimp, canonically and gameplay-wise, that just, frankly, becomes strong enough to save the world of his own accord, not because of some power-up or upgrade, he doesn't get his skills and power out of nowhere, he just gradually gets better. Also, he can't have some unknown abilities that don't come into light till later. He can't be some secret bad-ass either, which means people think he sucks but he's really kick-ass at fighting.

Also 100% he HAS to start out as a complete wimp story-wise and preferably gameplay-wise.

No joke games please.

Preferably a long action-rpg or long turn-based RPG where you use a SWORD that has decent combat, not super into games where you use guns. You can check which games I have on my profile. I love DD and Skyrim, but both are Chosen One stories. I have Last Remnant but I've heard rumors that the main character is a chosen one or has some link to the main villain, what I'm looking for is that you're literally some weapon dude who decides he's gonna save the world or gets involved in some grand battle, but has no link to the main villain or anything.

I think I'm just searching for a game that meets these criteria's but also becomes important, not because he's a chosen one, but because of his own strength.

I'd also like the game to have a deep story and a clear-cut main villain that makes you look like a wimp. Also you must play as a 1 dude. Preferably no real "party".

People must recognize your growth as a warrior at some point in the story, not your growth as in you got a new power that people are in awe of, but in your badassness as a warrior.

I was immediately thinking about Postal 2 but that's a joke game and not a sword like rpg. In Fallout 3, NV, 4 you are nobody; in Half-Life you are an educated nobody. Old Redneck Rampage could be added but they are all fps and not sword / medieval rpg's.

In the MSX days you had the top down Ys series made by Falcom where you start off as nobody. There are PC versions these day but I have never played them.

Good suggestion though for a new fps franchise.
If you've never played Kingdom Come: Deliverance and you're interested in the type of game I described, you should check it out.

You start out as the son of a blacksmith and you can't wield a sword for crap, you can't even cut a stick in half.

By the halfway point of the game you're able to beat a dude (in the story) who kicked your ass in a duel and left you for dead.

Basically you start off with absolutely nothing, you're not anything resembling even alright at swordplay, you're barely okay at fighting with your hands. Furthermore as you get better armor and weapons people everywhere start recognizing you as a knight. You become better with swords, bows, etc, as you continue to use em.

I have heard of the game but I am a bit holding back since many people report that the combat system is too complex. I am also not big fan of melee or sword fighting in general. In Skyrim it was okay because it was kept simple. It was actually the archery and bonus damage multipliers what made me love the combat in Skyrim.

Not attacking you, incase it seems so, but you did ask for that specifically last time.

On a few side notes:
I highly recommend trying a Fallout game. I was also not into guns etc., and had played all these medieval games since I was little. Last year I tried Fallout 4 and then did a majority of Fallout New Vegas, Fallout 1 completely and a solid chunk of Fallout 3 and had really good times exploring those worlds and playing differently. By extending and trying out these games I have found so many different games I enjoy.

I actually just started a full melee run of Fallout 4 recently and there is a good amount of melee gear and customization.

On another note, you could try Grim Dawn.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/219990/Grim_Dawn/

It is an ARPG and your character starts off as a nobody who was simply attacked by the enemies in it and survived. It is simple and you only need to use a few attacks here and there. Very simple and smooth game play with the mouse and a few key buttons used.

In Fallout New Vegas you start off as a random guy who gets shot in the head and survives too lol

Basically this. No other game has more connection to your requirements than this.

It seems overwhelming at first, though I'm the opposite, I don't like using Magic or Archery too much. The way it works is, you have to do sword lessons from Bernard, a Rattay Guard, he'll teach you over time how to use a sword, you can practice at him any time.

Archery on the other hand, is difficult sometimes even if you know what you're doing.

Hitting a stationary target is easy enough but you won't do so well hitting a moving one, its not impossible, just difficult.

Furthermore if you like Archery then you should really check out the game "Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen". Archery has never felt so power as it is in that game, there are tons of skills that go with it, buffs and damage multipliers, the combat is fast-paced and later on you can shoot 5 hours at once which further goes up to 10 arrows.

The good old Betrayal at Krondor. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Betrayal_at_Krondor

Your characters are not really "nobody" but are not "chosen one" either. Good combat. Super great story. Looked pretty nice too back in '93 :) IMHO still stands up to too many modern games in the RPG bucket.

While if you look for actual swordfight,

If you choose nobody

Nobody becomes the chosen one.

I would say that your specifications, uh, narrow things down too much.

I suppose that's a thing one could do in their next D&D campaign.
Start it off with a group of misfit nobodies who become the most significant legends of that game setting in particular, should they succeed in their quest.
Oh rip, sorry xD

It's not on here I'm sad to say, but infinite undiscovery is exactly that. your character just happens to look like the legendary hero, so people keep expecting you to do things despite the fact that you're a giant loser.

Er sorry not exactly what I mean.

No one knows who you are, you don't look, or act like a legendary hero, everybody pretty much considers you a wimp. Thanks for the suggestion, though, I'll definitely check it out.

Nah, it's fine.
It would be interesting to see if anyone can bring up a game that meets all the criteria.
So far Kingdom Come: Deliverance is the only game that comes to mind, in terms of meeting EVERY criteria. People actually recognize how you've grown in the story and the story itself does as well.

Besides that I've heard about Dungeon Siege, and the early ES games like Arena, dunno enough about Daggerfall but I do know that in Arena you're just some prisoner and unlike the other games you aren't prophecized at all, you just become really f*cking powerful on your own and end up taking down the villain.

You can try Elex, you start as a commander of the albes (the bad guys) but get betrayed and left for dead, you lose everything and have to survive in a world where people will kill you if they found out who you are
you can have swords, shields and guns but it's up to you what to choose
it's a piranha bytes game so expect to get swallow, chew and spit in the beginning

(tips: don't join a faction too soon or you will have abilities that will reduce the difficulty of the battles and i don't know if it locked some quests based on your faction)
