Shadowrun: Returns is based on the science fantasy (fight me, it's not true cyberpunk) tabletop roleplaying game "Shadowrun"
Cyberpunk 2077 is a videogame that is coming out soon.
Shadowrun: Returns is a videogame that has been out for a while. It was a good game.
They are in the same general genre (RPG) with superficially similar sources.
So I guess, therefore, it's rational for Cyberpunk 2077 to take a little inspiration from a good game in the same kinda ballpark that came before it? Copy what was done well?
Otherwise, no.
Seeing as they are all based from the same source material, yes some of the visuals look somewhat similar. Except for the fact that shadowrun has magic and elves.
The attributes you choose affect dialogues, like corporates in shadowrun and cyperpunk. Also the netrunner is similar with shadowrunner, and dont forget the different ways of interacting with the story. You can be stealthy or a straight forward combat type in both games, also the complex stats/cyberware you can choose.
But I must have horrible taste for games so... it doesn't matter.
I guess I just had too high expectations. Not saying its bad game, but just not my cup of tea. In theory I should have liked it but... Thought story would be good, but after strong start it begin to stumble until I just lost interest. Felt a bit like being part of badly writen fantasy novel to be honest.
And clunky combat just wasn't satisfying. Not going to say a word about characters so I don't step on anyone's toes.
Still, I'm glad that others like it and I hope people enjoy playing witcher serie as much as they want.
And weren't the Cyber space cowboys in shadowrun called deckers?
You'd be correct.
the Shadowrun Returns series is good tho
