Cyberpunk 2077 // Shadowrun: Returns
After I watched Cyberpunk 2077 new gameplay video, it makes me think that this game is really inspired by Shadowrun: Returns. I dont know if thats true or not, but I cant help but think if they got the idea on that game.

What do you think? Am I delusional?

Most likely delusional. Cyberpunk environments often look similar.
Cyberpunk 2020 is a thing, you might want to look that up.
Cyberpunk 2077 is based on the cyberpunk (the genre) tabletop roleplaying game "Cyberpunk 2020"
Shadowrun: Returns is based on the science fantasy (fight me, it's not true cyberpunk) tabletop roleplaying game "Shadowrun"

Cyberpunk 2077 is a videogame that is coming out soon.
Shadowrun: Returns is a videogame that has been out for a while. It was a good game.
They are in the same general genre (RPG) with superficially similar sources.

So I guess, therefore, it's rational for Cyberpunk 2077 to take a little inspiration from a good game in the same kinda ballpark that came before it? Copy what was done well?

Otherwise, no.
Skyrim // Baldur's Gate
Shadowrun came after the original cyberpunk. Cyberpunk was developed with influence from William Gibson and the sprawl trilogy.

Seeing as they are all based from the same source material, yes some of the visuals look somewhat similar. Except for the fact that shadowrun has magic and elves.

The attributes you choose affect dialogues, like corporates in shadowrun and cyperpunk. Also the netrunner is similar with shadowrunner, and dont forget the different ways of interacting with the story. You can be stealthy or a straight forward combat type in both games, also the complex stats/cyberware you can choose.
Well, I do hope they gain at least some inspiration from shadowrun games. Based on witcher 3 I do not have high expectations for cyberpunk 2077. I hope they prove me wrong thou.

But I must have horrible taste for games so... it doesn't matter.

mind if i ask whats wrong with witcher 3?
Shadowrun and Cyberpunk 2077 share some similarities alright, both draw inspiration from "Bladerunner" and the book on which it's based on titled "Do androids dream of electric sheep" by Phillip K. ♥♥♥ (I apologize for miss-spelling it to bypass the filter, but I intend to use the word as surname, not colloquial term for the male reproductive organ). The differences start with Shadowrun adding a big helping of Tolkien to a pretty common cyberpunk setting. So... other than the roots, Shadowrun and Cyberpunk 2077 don't share all that much.

I guess I just had too high expectations. Not saying its bad game, but just not my cup of tea. In theory I should have liked it but... Thought story would be good, but after strong start it begin to stumble until I just lost interest. Felt a bit like being part of badly writen fantasy novel to be honest.

And clunky combat just wasn't satisfying. Not going to say a word about characters so I don't step on anyone's toes.

Still, I'm glad that others like it and I hope people enjoy playing witcher serie as much as they want.

I am not going to call the game system directly related to the father of the cyberpunk genre a ripoff of a game that came later.

And weren't the Cyber space cowboys in shadowrun called deckers?

You'd be correct.
not really an expert on tabletop games but iirc the Shadowrun universe is inspired by Cyberpunk (and so is pretty much any cyberpunk universe)

the Shadowrun Returns series is good tho
