As for myself, I like a little bit of everything. My biggest passions are prog metal, math rock, alt rock, classic rock, IDM, jungle, and some breakcore or rap here and there. I listen to stuff like Drum and bass, old school rap, neurofunk, liquid funk, reggae, pop, indie, electronica, house, jazz, country, etc. Of course there's a few I don't like, but there's something good to learn from every genre. I play seven string guitar, six string bass, and keyboards - I play lead guitar in a band atm and on my own time experiment with electronic genres solo, I believe exposing yourself to as much music as you can gives you the most tools and options to be creative. Unless something is blatantly lacking, all music takes effort, some more than others objectively, but subjectively it's all taste, and there's something to learn from everything. All that matters is it being quality and well done.
And @OP, check out Animals as Leaders if you want to see really skillful guitar players & drummers in metal! In terms of skill I think they set the level. If skill is what you look for you'll like them.

The only thing electronic music lacks and can envy traditional guitar & etc music is the fact that electronic music usually lacks the performance or playing element. It's more composing and making the architecture of a song then that's it. While guitar and everything else music takes all that, plus playing it, performing it, and having enough practise and technique to be able to do it, which is a lot - but even with electronic music, some artists find ways to add a performance and playing element to it. Which is something a lot of ignorant people don't see, sure, a lot of electronic music is just hitting the "play" button, but for me, the best value and worth, is when artists go out of their way to actually perform it rather than just doing that.
