What happens if you break a zombies neck?
In The Walking Dead, a zombies brain must be destroyed or severely damage for it to actually die, thus hitting it anywhere else does nothing other than slow it down.

However, for years I have been curious as to what exactly would happen if you were to snap a zombies neck. It's not technically destroying its brain, however I've done some research on neck breaking and apparently it has something to do with your spine being directly connected to your brain, which could possibly indicate that it does actually damage the brain.

So, considering that, what exactly would happen if one were to break its neck? Would it die? Do nothing? It's quite unclear.

DISCLAIMER: I am strictly talking about the zombies from The Walking Dead and Fear The Walking Dead, so please do not use something like the neck breaker from Dying Light as a reference, as those zombies are far different.

I was under the impression that on TWD zombie's heads have to be completely severed from their bodies to 'kill' them, so, if you snapped their necks I guess they wouldn't die. They'll just be a zombie walking around with a snapped neck.
Chopping a zombies head off does not kill it.

This is assuming that a zombie's main nerve-bundle is even functioning in the first place.

Right, I think Walking Dead just assumes Magic Zombies Who Need Their Brain. So it's unclear if the brain even needs to pass electrical currents itself or if it just needs to be structurally intact for some unknown reason. Pretty sure they can die from blunt trauma to the head or having their brain minced through the soft palette.

ah zombies is the most stupid concept ever, the ♥♥♥♥ can you kill something that's already death?.

like wtf who though this ♥♥♥♥ up
it's like hurting a rock by rocking it on other rocks it makes no sense whatsoever

It’s not stupid at all. In the Animal kingdom, there is a parasite that invades the brains of insects and causes them to abandon the colony and devote itself to the parasite. Ants and ladybugs are just two insects that are known to fall victim to this awful fate. There are many bugs that can become infected.

The plot for Last Of Us was actually taken from this as to if it could happen to Humans.

As to who thought it up ? The idea for zombies is based on the book I Am Legend that talks about how a disease turns humans into vampires and there is one man on Earth that is immune and he tries to survive daily.

Except that's not even the case either. In one of the seasons the antagonist has a bunch of fish tanks that have severed zombie heads in them that still move around.

The head itself would still be alive; this has been shown multiple times throughout the series.

they do not "mind control" they release chemicals that allow the host to do certain thing's not really classified "zombie" like being death so no chemical reaction to move muscle or have brain activities
which request electronic pulses which only works in active Neurons

if you brain death you gonner for good no virus, advanced tech or mirical will activate repair damaged nerons and even if they get it active again it's Gamma, Beta, Alpha, Theta, Delta waves are gone which is your conciseness

Oh, you mean this;

But then when I look at the scene with Michonne killing the walkers in the forest, and this;

Where Rick is "killing" these zombies and yet his axe just barely scrapes the walkers' faces, I realize how poor the consistency this show had.

The show is not very good. Like, there are writers who have built their careers writing absolutely fantastic bottle episodes, even for AMC.

But AMC wants to keep it Gimple!

It's actually relatively common to break a neck when beheading something, since it's usually a very small target. Even if your angle isn't perfect breaking the neck might make the blade slide inbetween the vertebrae and sever the head anyway. The upper neck sometimes breaks from whiplash in that situation.

There could be a difference between a clean cut and a not-so-clean cut?
Drenus 30 AGO 2019 a las 6:59 a. m.
Shane snapped a kids neck in season 2, he came back, and moved around like normal

Guvnor keept his private fish collection of heads, those were still ''alive''

Whisperes heads on pike warning, were also still ''alive''

so no, snapping necks in walking dead universe, doesn't kill them, and doesn't even make them paralysed

I am not sure but I have seen a zombie walking on it’s ankle.

if a zombie is controlled by a fungus a bottle of mold control should be enough.
