Losing interest in video games
Anyone else experiencing this?
I've played them for as long as I can remember, can't believe I'm saying this but I think I've really really lost interest in them. I'm older now (still young, but older), I have a job, I only really play when I get back from work late and even then i'm like "meh i'll probably lose again and it's gonna suck so i won't even bother & waste my time again".

If I want to play something I'll open a single player game and do whatever, which is why im downloading gta 5 again, so i can free roam and do whatever I want. I guess im losing interest in multi player games where other people can ruin my experience. Like dead by daylight, that game is toxic as ♥♥♥♥. Often times I don't even open it cause i know it's gonna be an awful experience even though I really love the game.

Yeah a lot of people experience this. It's not limited to video games, people always lose interest in things no matter what it is.

Then don't play them?

I had experienced that before. I took about a year long break before returning to this hobby. These days the only multi-player I do is co-op with friends.

Everyone loses interest in something when something better comes their way, like a job or a partner. But the Creed of Gamers always lives on, even to the greatest living elders of our generation. In short, life may go on as normal, but you'll come back: many others always come back after years or even decades of gaming inactivity. :cozycrashfish:

I only lose interest on video games when I play it too much. I get a burnout. There are days where I just don't play games for 2 days or 1 week straight. Then after the hiatus--I'm back at it again--this time I limit myself from playing a lot and just play for few hours.

I've been playing a lot lately--90+ hours for the past 2 weeks--I know that I'm going to have a burnout probably next week then the cycle goes on and on.

I wouldn't necessarily leave video games for good, I think it's better for me to just take breaks for a while and when the time comes that I actually WANT to play again, then I'd play. No need to force myself.

There's been quite a few threads about this. Curiously, they largely seem to be from people who play a lot of AAA or other popular games.

Probably because they think that most AAA games today are pretty much the same soul and mechanics--they don't think it's interesting anymore. I think they just "ride the wave, then trash it"

Yeah, if you're forcing yourself to do a hobby, it's no longer a hobby. It's just an unpaid job.

I'm kinda at a loss right now, but that's because the games I want to play aren't released yet, and while there are enough games on my collection that I actually should get on with them and finish them, I've been quite busy outside of gaming lately and pretty hope I'll be more often away from my PC as a whole.

it happens. sometimes it's the game's themselves, sometimes it's you.
