See I've seen both of the Conjurings, I liked them but not enough to watch them again.
Insidious same feeling.
Babadook I liked quite a bit but i dont know just didn't have a rewatch flair for me.
Witch I haven't seen actually.
And It Follows was really good, I actually just completely forgot about it.
Ah, well I believe you gave me my movie for the night. I'll try to remember to come back and say how I liked it or not like it.
There is a bunch of good indie horror on Netflix and Amazon, though.
I might try out Shudder and see what that's about too.
Go watch the original 1973 Wickerman to see how its done.
A long time ago the genre became a reliable source of money because they appeal to kids who haven't seen enough films to know quality or appreciate the craft and originality. Most movies suck anyway, but with horror it is more noticeable because they make those movies in a similar way to porn. "I know what you are asking for, I will give you only what you are asking fo, take this crappy movie and don't bother me any furthe"
Reminds me of Ubisoft's approach to games.
The classics use atmosphere, and storyline, to psychologically ware you down.
I think that's the main difference in today's horror movies. They just seem like the same thing over and over again. Just jump out scary. No real story, no real plot.
Just gotta look for the few gems hidden within, the rest is trash.
