Breeding/Genetics Game

I'm looking for a PC game in which you can breed your own animals.

To be precise, I'm looking for some kind of game that includes genetics to some degree, as in that the offspring keeps appearance of both parents and then you can breed those again with each other, etc.

I know some games that have these systems

-Petz (Dogz/Catz)
-an old flash game here [www.dressupgames77.com] but converting these for offline play, especially with keeping the safe file is way too much work
-fish tycoon (but I don't like the real time component too much)

There is also a new game called Mewgenics but that one has been in development for a bit and was just recently announced to be worked on again.

So, if you have any titles that come to mind I'd be really happy to hear them ^^

Sims 2 CAN be pretty fun to breed characters, I've had entire neighborhoods where I have purposefully forced couples together and watched their weird outcomes. But it is pretty limited, only really works with raw appearances, and unfortunately unless someone's ever made a decent mod or config for it, it doesn't ever take into account your custom things like modded eyes or hair colors.

its just dogs

there is a bit of real time to it, each day (rollover) the dogs will age up, and they "retire" at 120 days and can no longer breed at 111

I don't think he thought about that kind of breeding, especially not with what is supposedly your brother by alliance that's gay and a blue bird-human hybrid.

Welp, it does now.

Unfortunately (in *TS3 at least), traits aren't generally passed on unless you select ones that the parents had, but appearance is similar to the parents and I think some of their favorites are usually passed down. If you have the Generations expansion, you can actually use lifetime points (sort of like experience the Sim builds up over time) to clone a sim and not only give the child a similar appearance, but some of their traits are passed to the clone as well.

*I have the other games, but 3 is the only one I've played extensively since the entire neighborhood is explorable.

With the extension pack "Cats and Dogs" you can also breed little puppies and kittens.
