Do Gaming Mice Really Make A Difference?
I myself use a regular mouse and I do well in most games. But I have seen people talking about gaming mice being much better. What’s the difference between them?

A lot of gaming mice allow you to adjust DPI and have a few other button integrations and so on - to enable things such as macros and what not.

Most gaming mice have a good microprocesser that ensures sensivity at a better rate [usually measured in ms if i re-call correctly).

Ideally, you'd want to use that rather than some mouse that a hobo sold to you.

Waste of money, I play fine with touchpad

Adjustable DPI, higher refresh rates (500-1000mhz), greater durability on the buttons, more buttons, and better placement of the optical sensor.

I forgot to mention the durability of the mechanical parts as well.

There are some cheap mice that practically degrade and the R/L clicks don't work.

I remember one that practically broke when i was playing once, and the left-click got nuked.

Depends on the games you play. The best utility of a gaming mouse is the fact that they have more buttons, so you can set keybinds to the mouse rather than the keyboard, giving you more options- so you don't have to stretch your left hand all the way out to click something on your keyboard

The best mouse is one that you're are comfortable with. Personally, size is a big deal for me because I have large hands. I've been using a CM Reaper for about 4 years now and it's never let me down. It's a big, fat mouse, so I have more control with it in my hands.

Wired logitech mx518. Best mouse ever made.

They DO make a difference, but if you're USED to using crappy wireless mice or mice with lower dpi settings, changing to a proper gaming mouse can be really difficult.

Worth it, though. I use mine for art as well, so if you do other things on your PC than just gaming, you should invest in one that's right for your style and physical comfort. I personally love how the mx518 fits MY hand, I have trouble with smaller ones or those chunky angular ones.
I never noticed a difference. if I couldn't hit the target in the head with a crappy mouse I probably couldn't hit in the head with a higher DPI mouse. A mouse does not give you an improvement in actual skill.

I mean I have an $80 mouse with all kinds of settings but I just left it at default. I mostly bought it because it can be used on pretty much any surface, which is something I was actually really wanting.

You don't have a tablet for art? I bought one for like 40 bucks a few years ago and it is great for sketching and the like.

Mice don't play video games.

The difference is they are actually seen talking about them. Few people will engage in glorifying a 2 dollar mouse they bought at the local mall.

The extra buttons are nice and sometimes they're more ergonomic. And quite a few games have dumb control schemes and being able to bind a few more mouse buttons can make all the difference. Also they're a little faster, changing DPI on the fly can be handy...

but i'd never buy a super expensive one that looks like someone welded an old phone keypad to it. that's just silly. and all laser mice do is provide you with a hazard for your eye health if you drop it and it ends up arse over tit

To me gaming mice make a huge different for quality of life in some games. The higher/more adjustable DPI is nice in FPS games, but personally where gaming mice really shine is for binding lots of skills from RPGs to your mouse. I use a logitech g600 that has a 12 button thumb grid, and it's great to have access to most of my skills built right in to my mouse.

For me they make a difference. I've been using a Logitech wireless MX Master for years now, to the point that you can't even read the Logitech logo on it anymore. I simply love the MX series, I've had the MX 1000, MX Revolution and now the MX Master. 3 mice since 2004, these things last.

It fits well in my hand, it doesn't matter what surface the mouse is on, I like that it's a tad heavier and I've got enough buttons to assign to whatever I want it to do.

At work I use a generic wired mouse and I absolutely hate it.

I also have a Logitech G11 keyboard, which is also from 2004 and which I bought with the MX 1000. Still works and has 18 buttons that you can configure in 3 settings. Shortcuts enough.

No, sadly that's more because my wrist broke a bunch of years ago and I cannot really hold a pencil / tablet stylus without being in incredible pain after like 15 minutes. It makes actually creating line art with pencils and inking them with pens a CHORE. I do all my cleanup and coloring with a mouse, because it's SO much more comfortable for me. I *wiiiiish* I could say otherwise. :)

personally the only upgrade ive ever really felt is the better sensor
i play alot of csgo and league so i need a mouse that won't freeze up if i flick too fast or orbwalking too fast (i cba to bind attackmove cus muscle memory)

there are macros, usually better ergonomics and durability for gaming mice too, but thats not my top priority
