Most gaming mice have a good microprocesser that ensures sensivity at a better rate [usually measured in ms if i re-call correctly).
Ideally, you'd want to use that rather than some mouse that a hobo sold to you.
I forgot to mention the durability of the mechanical parts as well.
There are some cheap mice that practically degrade and the R/L clicks don't work.
I remember one that practically broke when i was playing once, and the left-click got nuked.
They DO make a difference, but if you're USED to using crappy wireless mice or mice with lower dpi settings, changing to a proper gaming mouse can be really difficult.
Worth it, though. I use mine for art as well, so if you do other things on your PC than just gaming, you should invest in one that's right for your style and physical comfort. I personally love how the mx518 fits MY hand, I have trouble with smaller ones or those chunky angular ones.
I mean I have an $80 mouse with all kinds of settings but I just left it at default. I mostly bought it because it can be used on pretty much any surface, which is something I was actually really wanting.
You don't have a tablet for art? I bought one for like 40 bucks a few years ago and it is great for sketching and the like.
but i'd never buy a super expensive one that looks like someone welded an old phone keypad to it. that's just silly. and all laser mice do is provide you with a hazard for your eye health if you drop it and it ends up arse over tit
It fits well in my hand, it doesn't matter what surface the mouse is on, I like that it's a tad heavier and I've got enough buttons to assign to whatever I want it to do.
At work I use a generic wired mouse and I absolutely hate it.
I also have a Logitech G11 keyboard, which is also from 2004 and which I bought with the MX 1000. Still works and has 18 buttons that you can configure in 3 settings. Shortcuts enough.
No, sadly that's more because my wrist broke a bunch of years ago and I cannot really hold a pencil / tablet stylus without being in incredible pain after like 15 minutes. It makes actually creating line art with pencils and inking them with pens a CHORE. I do all my cleanup and coloring with a mouse, because it's SO much more comfortable for me. I *wiiiiish* I could say otherwise. :)
i play alot of csgo and league so i need a mouse that won't freeze up if i flick too fast or orbwalking too fast (i cba to bind attackmove cus muscle memory)
there are macros, usually better ergonomics and durability for gaming mice too, but thats not my top priority
