Did open world survival games all fail?
Once Minecraft came out everyone jumped onto the trend, loads of early access games such as Out Of Reach, Beasts of Prey, 7 Days to Die, Day Z, all these games came out, were in early access for a whole decade, they either went out of buisness or delivered a rushed not great product which wasn't what was promised in the trailer and when they came out survival games were not exciting anymore and had moved onto battle royale.

So did any of the survival games succeed in anyway and did any actually get close to being as popular and fun as Minecraft?

the only game I can think of is Ark which also didn't deliver in my opinion the dinosaurs just end up walking in circles and just end up being spammed everywhere and you get eaten 100 times before making any progress.

"were in early access for a whole decade"

"rushed"

.... Um. Well, 7 days to die and Day z both still have people enjoying them, I think? (I don't play any of these craptastic must-be-with-other-player nonsense) never heard of the other two at all.

Ark has been extremely successful, and imo quite a bit nicer to look at than minecraft.

Rust is the only multiplayer open world survival game that I didn't regret purchasing or get a refund for.

Yea when I say rushed I mean, I don't think they are doing much in early access but hoping people will buy and they can keep making money then when they eventually decide to release they haven't really been doing much in that decade. I mean probably not really a decade but more like 4 years or so.

Not mad just seeing what people think about the open world survival genre.

Like the zombie shooter fad, it died off.
