Normal for decades.

But poor people and cheap people will say otherwise.

Normal for a brand new game. In my town lesser titles or older games are generally kept down to $20-$30 in stores.

It's normal price for a brand new triple A modern game.

Probably this makes us "feel" that $60 for a game is expensive since recent AAA releases tend to end up in something disappointing,

Its been the standard for a long time for the US at least.

$60 is normal for a new game from a big-name studio. Problem is games are rarely complete at $60 - usually there's some sort of additional "season pass" or some bs like that which usually costs around an additional $30.

It's standard market pricing for AAA games. If you adjust for inflation, games have always been about this price.

Mind you only a moron preorders/ buys new games. Games go on sale weeks after launch, and it can take weeks just to get the bugs worked out (in the case of Fallout 76 and Anthem, they never got worked out).

I've personally never bought a game for more than thirty bucks.

Only AAA games are $60

and AAA games aren't worth playing :)

This largely depends on how much content the game in question has to offer. If it has little more to offer than a 9-12 hour story mode then yes, it's expensive. If it's something like The Witcher 3 that can literally keep you busy for months on end between story, expansions, and side quests, then I think the price is actually quite justified.

With that being said, I think paying full price for a game is absurd. I usually just wait for the game in question to go on sale or a buy game bundles. The only exception is if the game has a booming multiplayer like a new COD or Battlefield game. I might decide to buy day one and pay full price.

Repeatable game? 60 is well worth it. Very long and convoluted story, requiring a lot of hours to get into? well worth it.

A one-time story with a throwaway plot, or a too short game, or, basically, anything that is a battle royale with fewer than like... 10 maps? 60 is way too much. That's my opinion anyway.

Depends on the game. I think it's a little expensive for games in franchises that have a new release once a year. Other than that though if it has good gameplay, good story, good replayability, and isn't broken on release it's usually worth it.
