Someone please help this annoying me so much.

Alright so im 18 and still live at home. And nothing goes past my dad. So new internet provider is not an option so please do not tell me that. Alright just needed to get that out of the way.

Anyways so my sister uses snapchat legit 24/7 and this wouldn't be that bad because i dont care what she does.

EXCEPT FOR THE FACT THAT SNAPCHAT MAKES THE INTERNET SO BAD FOR EVERYONE ELSE.

This took a few months to deduce what the actual problem was but that doesn't matter. We thought it was her phone but when she was out i used snapchat and the exact same thing happened so im fairly sure thats the problem.

Anyways without any lag i get around 47ms ping at best with no problems so its not great but still 100% playable on everything with nothing major.

However when she uses snapchat its 150 constant ping with around 20% constant packet loss and 40% chocke. This spikes to at max 2.9k ms and 95% loss with 100% choke.

I don't know why this is happening and i need some help. I've looked it up on google and that just tilts me even more. I search up snapchat slowing wifi and it comes up with such results as "Snapchat too slow? Heres 5 fixes". Like actually. kms.

Please help this is all becoming too much for me.

Throttle her connection. Some routers allow a specific MACIP to only use a certain amount of bandwidth, I think.

There is no way snapchat is slowing your wifi that much unless your connection is so bad that almost everything slows it. That's why you won't find any solutions on the internet.

I don't know how many people use your connection, but a lot of times if multiple people use it at the same time your connection gets a lot slower. But not just from snapchat.

You could try to connect to cable instead of wifi, if that's an option. Resetting your router does miracles too sometimes. Or you could try to connect over a different (protocol, path?) But that's something you should google.

If you have money you could try to buy a connection for yourself. Maybe one of those internet usb sticks. But that's something i have no experience with myself.

And try to sit closer to the router. Wifi doesn't always handle walls and floors that well.

And maybe try to play more single player games, if everything else fails.

Surely it could because it is constantly downloading and uploading videos and photos.

I'm already on ethernet I forgot to mention that. It slows down all wi-fi and my ethernet and takes entire priority over the connection it doesnt make any sense at all.

if you load a website it's about just as much traffic.. that loads pictures too, and a lot more.

QoS (Quality of Service) is a feature on most quality routers which allows you to create rules for data packet proirties. You will find it under advanced options of the router admin. It depends on your router model of how about you set this up. Just ensure you know what you are doing if changing any settings and keep a record of the original settings as backup.

If you aren't on a wired (ethernet cable), then consider that over using wifi. Even if the cable is miles across the entire house, it will perform better and not have dropouts like wifi can.

Priority should be like so:
#1 - Online Gaming
#2 - Real-time video streaming (Netflix, Youtube, etc)
#3 - Downloads
#4 - Web-browsing
#5 - Messaging
#6 - Email

Priority connections (use MAC Address if possible, or ensure IP is Static or it's just based on connection type):
#1 - Your own PC and/or Ethernet
#2 - Wifi connections to other PCs and Laptops
#3 - Wifi to Smart TVs
#4 - Wifi to smart phones and other smaller devices

Certain games, that only you personally play, can also be port forwarded directly to your PC in the network.
