I love games like that.
But I play them as intended. With other players.
Other Sandbox games, I also still have fun with. I like amusing myself outside of the assigned game structure.

Open world mostly appeals as world where you're mostly spent time in world itself than conventional walking in the dungeon.
I don't find it boring which still depends the game i am playing.
As well as my recent addiction to Fallout New Vegas.
As long as their not bland ey.
