What would be your ideal Steam girlfriend (or boyfriend)?

I don't think that I will ever be boyfriend/girlfriend with someone on Steam. But I often wonder what type of person would be a good match for me and what the relationship would be like.


Here are some things that I would look for:

1.) She must be online on my Friends list each and every day. Or at least most days of the week.

2.) She must be willing to talk and I must enjoy talking with her.

3.) This might not be a requirement, but it would be nice to see some game activity on her part. I recently added someone who hadn't played any games in six months and it bothered me a little.

4.) She must like and play games similar to what I like and play, or at the very least like and play games that I have some sort of interest in. Recently, I added someone who only liked Path of Exiles type games and that was a huge turn off for me because I don't like those sorts of games.

5.) She must be a verified female. It helps when the female has a convincing profile picture and some social media accounts.

6.) She must not be a prude or someone who gets upset and offended easily.


Here are some things that might be important to me:

1.) She should probably not have the opposite political viewpoints than me. That would probably be annoying dealing with someone who believes the complete opposite of what I believe in.


Here are some things that have me convinced that having a Steam girlfriend wouldn't be all that great:

1.) I would want to play games when I want to play them, and she could keep bugging me to play games when I don't feel like it.

2.) I would want to play a game with her once in a while and she would never have any interest in playing. That would be a bit of a let down because sharing game experiences can be fun and strengthen a relationship.

3.) She would love a game that I play so much that she would play without me with other guys. All those guys would be interested in her. Then she will have all these guy friends and I wouldn't feel special anymore.


This is an incomplete list. It is just what I have so far. If you have any ideas, please share them with me.

1.) I would want to respect my Steam girlfriend, so she must not be a horrible player. If she wasted 50 bullets to kill a single zombie, that would be a turn off to me. Also, I would be intimidated if she was God tier level. So a similar skill level would be nice.

There were 23 replies, and not a single one of them had any value. Just insults, accusations, triggered people, wrong topic "go out and meet someone real" suggestions, and jokes. So until I receive a serious answer, Crypt's answer will be the chosen topic's answer.

Now 61 replies, mostly just criticism and troll posts. Nothing that really made me go, "Oh nice. I didn't think of that."

After 75 replies, I selected a new topic answer because Axe Wound put forth the most effort and thought thus far and his ideas were original and unique.

After 102 replies from snowflakes and third wave feminists, I finally found a new best answer. It only took 102 replies to get a decent response. I liked the "doesn't interrogate me when I'm not replying immediately" part. Thanks K3st.

Anyhow, I never want to date someone on the internet because there's like a 99% chance they're bullshitting you (about gender, wanting to be with you, etc.) or they're going to use something against you. You can't trust online relationships.

If you're both playing coop with other random players, she must at all times prioritize you over anyone else if you need healing. She also must not wander too far from you so you can both cover each other if SHTF. Also maybe a good idea to have pet names for each other. Make her use them only if/when other male players join your games incase they try to hit on her. You are like the complete opposite of me. I don't do co-op or mic. I don't like pet names. I don't like exerting my dominance. And if I had all of these requirements that you listed, I would feel as if I have controlling issues. I found your post funny. I don't know how much of it is serious and how much of it is a joke. But I do see the validity of everything that you offered. As a gaming partner, shouldn't your boyfriend or girlfriend not wander off somewhere alone? Shouldn't they have your back? Shouldn't they thwart other people's romantic advances? I think that a good partner would rage quit too instead of continuing the game alone. I don't need or necessarily want these things that you mentioned, but they do make sense on a significant level. Anyway, you put forth the most effort and thought thus far and actually added some original ideas to the conversation.
