Why are 3rd person horror games so much less scary then 1st person ones?

MY EYES They can be scarier than 1st person if done right but I guess it feels more like you're in the game if it's first person.

I dunno, most of the horror games that scared the ♥♥♥♥ out of me were third person. A lot of first person horror games are just really formulaic.

I can't say that I agree with this. Yeah, first person is more immersive, but some of my favorite horror games are 3rd person or 2d. Amnesia was great and all, but I will always remember the dread I experienced in Dead Space 2, Silent Hill 2, and Claire.

Although, 1st person does have a king, and it's Dark Corners of the Earth. But the ones I like, they all share a collective sense of atmosphere and dread over jump scares. Excellent design supersedes perspective.

Nah. Dead Space was WAY too predictable. I mean, 2 was predictable as well, but good lord.

Plus, there is nothing creepier than the school area. It was very regretful that my primary weapon at the time was the Ripper.

Also..after playing a 1st one i knew what will be in the 2nd one so i was never scared tbh.
And Ishimura was a way scaried place.

Javelin Gun and Ripper?wut?
Those are my 2 worst guns from DS 2 Kappa.
Only Detonator and Flamethrower could be worse.
I knew the rule from the 1st game.Plasma Cutter is gut,so upgrade it! Also with the rotating..gun barrel? Whatever,it can dismember enemies very easily.
Still, many players, many ways to play a game.
I got the whole game with use of a Cutter,Kinectic Gun and...that gun that was loading a shot before shooting,i don't rememeber the name since i had a game with Polish language. I know that it was my favourite.
And those 3 babies took me through a Hardcore Mode.
But still,good to know.

I don't know, I found original Silent Hill horrifying when I played it back then. Fatal Frame 2 was also pretty spooky.
