Best stealth game ever made?

So I am a HUGE fan of stealth games, I feel like I have played them all but I wanna see if there are some gems I missed (I didn't play Styx but heard it was great).

I am currently replaying Dishonored 2 and have come to the conclusion it is probably one of my favorite games ever made, I love everything about it from the art style to the characters to the level design and open nature of the game play choices.

Let's hear some of your choices for best stealth games.

Dishonored 2 is one of my favourite game. Also, 1 and DOTO(death of the outsider) are top notch. Game has an awful performance, too bad for rushing its debut.

Sniper elite franchise, Metro franchise (pure stealth in order to get the good ending), TC Splinter Cell franchise, Hitman franchise (Blood Money is gold), Deus EX.

Dishonored 1 is amazingly optimised i get a consistant 100fps all the time and Dishonored 2 i cant even run it at a stable 60fps un very low settings at 720p.

That's because the Void id5 engine is garbage, and Dishonored 1 runs on Unreal.

However, they DID a lot of work on it after the massive amount of feedback. It's still somewhat problematic for SOME machines and software/hardware combinations. But by and large the issues have been mitigated. I cannot say 'removed'. Still though - it runs great when you tweak the options and there are a lot of options to fiddle with. on topic: options for visibility and enemy attention span, whether they look up, pursue you, etc - very challenging options for gameplay.

They're bugged, you turn off dof and it turns itself back on in a min or two.

Yeah, was shocking how unpolished D2 was. I could run D1 in a crappy laptop, smoothly and beautiful game. But later with my PC (a 1060 6GB) D2 was so unstable, horrible, had to get patches and manage video configurations to avoid crashes and a powerpoint performance. DOTO improved a lot of things, never had performance issues in that game. Unbelievable how Bethesda kill developers and games through terrible engines.

Dunno if i'd even call that a stealth game honestly. It's fun but the stealth is meh.

Thief: The Dark Project and Thief 2: The Metal Age.

After playing them most stealth games will look weak in comparison.
