I just meant that pies can have more versatility in what they are made of and taste. Bacon, tuna, ham, vegetable, fish, onion, apple, blueberry, potato, mushroom etc all taste good in pie. Cake is most often just sweet stuff on top of more sweet stuff.

cake is bread with frosting on top.

Instead I'll just list the things that I like just to make everyone hungry.

Apple pie, cheesecake, cherry pie, coconut cream pie, banana cream pie, lemon meringue pie, pecan pie, peanut butter pie, pumpkin pie, sweet potato pie, are on the top of my list.

As for cakes I do like apple cake, angel food cake, banana cake, brownie, chocolate cake, coffee cake, devil's food cake, fruitcake (with real fruit not the fake candy fruit that is nasty), German chocolate cake, ice cream cake, molten chocolate cake, pancake, pound cake, sponge cake, strawberry cake, and upside-down cake.

Cake due to there being more variations of cake than there are of pie.

You can have Advocaat Liqueur cake, different types of cheese cake, well made black forest cake, sugar crumb cake, etc.

Both, though I like more types of pie then I do cake, only cake I really like is peanut butter covered chocolate cake, and German Chocolate, and Carrot cake, as for pies I have not tried a pie I haven't liked: pumpkin, Pecan, Strawberry Rubarb, Apple, Blueberry, Mincemeat, Chicken Pot Pie, Key Lime, Bannana Cream, Boston Cream, Turttle, Beef Pie, Lemon Merinque, ect.
