Does anyone remember Dungeon Empires and what happened to it?
HI all, this is my first post. Im a gamer from way back, almost the womb, and I have seen gaming grow from the release of Atari 2600 to what it is now and I am awed by it. I think back on the different consoles and computers and though many of the old games I played where at times large blocks and vaguely reminiscent of the things they were meant to represent, the experience of playing them always gave me great pleasure and excitement. I see many of those older games now again available from one source or another over the internet, and I see that the Steam platform also caters for the nostalgic return of the old titles, perhaps some time may expand into the arcade emulation...? Anyway... along with those old games are others that aren't so old, one of note to me is (was) a game called Dungeon Empires which appeared approximately 5 years ago, Im not sure if I can name the site or create any links to the old page... however the game I felt, was an original spin on FPS, dungeon creation and management, monster/minion management and character building. It dissappeared maybe two years ago without any reason that i found and I have only been able to locate a page stating it had been shut down. I was wondering if any other steam users remember this game and knew if there was any chance of a revival of this unique game, perhaps through Steam or a similar platform.

It has indeed been shut down, here's a link showing some stuff: http://www.mmogames.com/game/dungeon-empires/

I would love to see it come back. It was a fun game that allowed you to create your own dungeon and had people try to beat it, while you went out and tried to beat other's dungeons. Every couple months I look for other games like it, but nothing :(.

Its such a shame, the game had a great concept and promise I thought. I liked the intricacy of completely customizing lairs for the numerous different henchmen/beasts.. and the customization and leveling of your own character.. so many options.. and yes having other people try to beat your dungeon.. coming back and finding thier dead bodies and loot was great.. buy another pet.. train up some levels.. Im suprised there aren't more people who made some noise about it's dissapearance. Maybe it could inspire a more modern version with similar concepts

Yep something like them... I have Dungeon keeper and I've seen and played War for the Overworld. Did you ever play Dungeon Empires?

Never heard about Dungeon Empires before you mention it.

But I played Dungeon Keeper 1 & 2 and War for the Overworld.

I remember playing Dungeon Empires back in 2011... My in game name was Brutakuz and I was one of the top players until it was ripped away from from us by Gamigo.

I wonder if there would be a way to resurrect the game?

I could maybe revive the game though I'd need the codebase. Otherwise I can make another one just like it ( which would allow me to improve it too more easily) though i would need more time if I am to make it 3D because I lack knowledge in that field.

Do you remember this game?

It was much better than War for the Overworld, by factors better. Better than Dungeon Keeper, but different. I am sure someone would make a pretty penny updating or creating a new version.

Yeah there's no reason that there cant be room for all old games.. especially the ones with original concepts.. we see so many games all the same.. then something comes out like that and breaks the mold a bit.. damn shame its not around. I wish I could program so I could make some of the games in my head and ones like this so they dont dissappear
