If I buy a Uplay game through Seam but download it from Uplay, do I still need Steam?

So it's safe to assume it's well known that Uplya games bought through Steam require both DRM's to play it. But it's also safe to assume that anyone who's buying a Uplay game through Steam is downloading it through Steam as well.

It downloads through steam if you bought it on steam, I am not sure you are able to download it on uplay alone if you got it on steam.

This doesn't answer my question. All you two are saying is that you don't know because you never tried.

If you click 'download' on Uplay it fires up the Steam instalation process.
