Common Misconceptions
Misconception: Catfish are not slippery.

Then why do I slip and bust my ass when I inadvertently step on one?

Why are they often used in covert operations? Because they slip in undetected, dummy.

Why do they always slip out of my hands when I catch one? Nobody believes me when I tell them that I caught a five-hundred pound catfish, but it slipped out of my hands. They want to know why they keep slipping away. I’m tired of being referred to as incompetent.

Napeoleon was short. Not so, he was average height for his time. 5 foot 7, about same height as Hitler, Alexander the Great, Tom Cruise, Robin Williams, etc. His small height is just a myth.

Fortune Cookies are not Chinese, they are Japanese. China considers them an american quirk.

Buddah wasn't fat or chubby. The Buddah statues we all are familiar with aren't actually of Buddah, but of a fat Chinese folk her Budai. Sorry, they aren't fat "Buddah" statues.

A black belt in martial arts doesn't signify mastery. There are higher colored belts so it doesn't stop at black.
I thought fortune cookies were English
Misconception: Blowing air into a cartridge makes it work.

It's actually the act of pulling the cartridge out of a console and putting it back in that makes it work. By doing so you're scraping tiny bits of rust and crap off the contacts.

I thought it had something to do with the moisture in your breath making the contacts more conductive?

Misconception: The DeLorean is a great car.

No, it's not. It's a piece of ♥♥♥♥ when compared to any other sports car from the era. Also who cares if it was from Back from the Future.
I thought it was common knowledge that outside Back to the Future the DeLorean was ♥♥♥♥
Misconception: We only use 10% of our brains.

Many studies, scientists and neurologists have proven and stated that we use 100% of our brains in a day.

That's not true, actually. The disorder doesn't include "being picky or wanting things a certain way," but it does include that.
edit: rephrase, it includes being picky or wanting things a certain way but it depends on what it is.
OCD is an anxiety disorder that involves persistant and intrusive thoughts. The habitual activites act as a sort of coping mechanism for dealing with the anxiety (turning lights off twice before going to bed, running up and down the stairs three times in exactly 2 minutes, etc.)
That's not all of the disorder.

Didn't they even say it was $h!t in BTTF 2?
Misconception: Humans are smart

Truth: No
The big ones I have found to be completely wrong:
'not working will lead to unhappiness'
'you should find the right career for you and then work will be like play'
Asians are bad drivers. Nope, quite the opposite. Usually Asians and Latino's are the better drivers.

Caffiene is a stimulant. Nope. Caffiene is an inhibitor. The presence of caffiene in your system causes your body to produce stimulants, but caffiene isn't a stimulant itself.

Peanuts are nuts. Nope. They don't fall into the tree nut family along with walnuts, almonds, etc but the legume bean family, so they are more related to peas and other beans.

Sushi means raw fish. Not really, sushi is an adjective that actually describes the flavor of the fish "sour-tasting". and is more used as a way to prepare raw fish, not the actual fish itself.
