Santa was originally known as St Nicholas, who was born during the third century in the village of Patara. His wealthy parents, who raised him to be a devout Christian, died in an epidemic while Nicholas was still young. Obeying Jesus' words to "sell what you own and give the money to the poor," Nicholas used his whole inheritance to assist the needy, the sick, and the suffering.
He is indeed a real person!
Christians celebrates the birth of Christ. However, doesn't actually know the birth date of Jesus, so it actually replaces a Pagan holidays which was considered one of the most darkest days in this world, with a more positive aspect. Teachs that Christmas is a time of giving and helping. Christians go out of their way to support the homeless and poor, etc. 85% of the entire worlds charities are Christian run and funded.
The most important Christian aspect of modern Christmas is Santa Claus. This character is traced to Saint Nicholas, a patron saint of children on whose day (December 6th) gifts were given to kids. This story got past around from sailors across the world. Becoming more myth and legend than facts.
One story tells of a poor man with three daughters. In those days a young woman's father had to offer prospective husbands something of value—a dowry. The larger the dowry, the better the chance that a young woman would find a good husband. Without a dowry, a woman was unlikely to marry. This poor man's daughters, without dowries, were therefore destined to be sold into slavery. Mysteriously, on three different occasions, a bag of gold appeared in their home-providing the needed dowries. The bags of gold, tossed through an open window, are said to have landed in stockings or shoes left before the fire to dry. This led to the custom of children hanging stockings or putting out shoes, eagerly awaiting gifts from Saint Nicholas.
Then Coca Cola made it into a fairy tale lie to tell kids for marketing purposes. Taking the imagine of Saint Nick and making it into a red suit, fatter, and jolly, etc. Songs and stories over time added into flying reindeer, north pole, slave elves, etc.
Please ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ tell me you're being sarcastic.

7. Falling stars are not stars. And you don't get wishes.
8. Throwing pennies in fountains and wells also do not get you wishes.
9. Same damn thing goes for blowing out candles.
10. Sesame Street Muppets are not alive.
11. Bears will not sing magical songs to you in the woods. They will eat you, though.
12. You have to wait an hour after eating to go swim. I believed this for FAR too long.
13. Those are not the real characters at your favorite theme park. They are actors. And Creepy.
.... and so on and so forth.
Being a kid should be a magical time. A time of dreams and happy moments. Kids will have years of happy Christmas mornings, excited and running to see what Santa gave them. Why rob that from them, just to not have an awkward two minutes explaining that that people who love them bought the presents.
Jesus. I hate Christmas with a burning passion. All holidays, really. But I would never dream of robbing a kid of being a kid. What kind of humbug nonsense is that?
Never heard of anyone telling their kids that. By the time a kid is ready to understand that, they probably already found out on their own anyway. It's not exactly a secret.
