What would you do?
You and a super intelligent snail both get 1 million dollars, and you both become immortal, however you die if the snail touches you. It always knows where you are and slowly crawls toward you. What's your plan?

Reasoning is almost the exact same throughout all forms of life.

...

I understand what is being said.

Do not confuse reason and the response to stimuli. The former is a conscious attempt at applying logic and making sense of thing, the latter is an automatic and unconscious reaction to some change.

Sure the multitude of life exhibit complex behavior: This has already been considered. Certainly the capacity for reason and intellect exists in the plethora of creatures: This is never denied. What is plain and known is that not all organisms share the same degree of capacity, and any attempt at projecting human-like levels of reasoning onto creatures whose physiological capability to do so is vastly unlike ours is absurd.

Only things that have already been said will be said. Snails are not physiologically capable of physical and mental capacities as is granted to them in this thread, and no study that I know of has shown otherwise. What is known is that snails respond to stimuli in their own remarkable way.

Whats really absurd is applying raw logic to an obviously farsicle premise presented only to promote creativity and garner collective enjoyment. Perhaps such a farse doesnt tickle your fancy and your enjoyment comes form breaking it down and logically ripping it apart. While thats fine thats clearly not the premise of this thread and the only person youre going to amuse or impress is yourself.

The obvious answer is to take several thousand dollars to retain a couples therapist so the issues with this snail can be worked out. Using our combined immortality, money, intelligence, and godlike tracking abilities we will set out into the world in the name of justice and righting wrongs. We will set out on the mission to not only resurect DZ: Discovery Zone but bring it back to full franchise status with locations in every major hub city and affordable franchise options with available business schooling and financing from people that care.

We will make the world the great again.

attempt to negotiate

if that fails then throw mold on it
then just watch as the snail gets eaten by the mold repeatedly till the end of time

or something else

I use half a million to set up the snail in several cubic meters of Eden-esque (for a snail) climate-controlled low-maintenance habitat with as many other snails as it wants (remember, it's super-intelligent so we can figure a way to communicate together), and a prudently-invested trust fund to keep it going in perpetuity with periodic upgrades. Then I take my half and go away.

On the subject of "immortality", living supposedly forever wouldn't be worth much if it did not include agelessness and at least some level of injury resistance/regeneration. There are also at least two interpretaions of the mechanics of immortality: A) "Doctor Manhattan" style, in which you don't die no matter what happens, even if you are atomically disintegrated, but you might have a long wait while you put yourself back together; and B) "Highlander" style, wherein you can die.....but you get better via regeneration or whatever ability, or possibly you don't get better because some specific condition was met, such as having one's head severed from one's body, or maybe the damage is continuous -- like fire or intense cold or vacuum -- and overwhelming your regeneration.

Or c. You can't be harmed no matter what.

.....except if the snail touches you, then you die.
Also, do the same conditions apply to the snail's "immortality"? Because I see no mention of the snail dying if it touches you.....

Buy a cover for the snail or buy a suit that is immune to the snail

Pick it up with a news paper and stick it in a microwave. Let it explode in there and then go on living its immortal life as a gross stain inside a microwave for the rest of forever?
#LiftThatArmUp 2017 年 3 月 23 日 下午 7:53
put it in an "S car" and make it "go" away
scargo?

NO

trap it with salt and put it in a bottle without touching it.

you only die if it touches you, so this solves the problem.

.....an obviously farsicle premise.....
That's "farcical", meaning "Of, relating to, or resembling farce, a type of comedy."

On the other hand, I would very much like a cherry farsicle :steamhappy:

you said it SLowLy crawls toward me, so i would assume it retains it's normal Snails pace. i would just go to the opposite side of the world and live there peacefully, it will take more than 100 years for a Snail to reach me at his normal speed....

i will do some calculations on his- 'avarage speed Vs my distance' to figure out when he might reach me......

when the date is nearby ( may be 100 years Later.).....i will just go to another side of the world again. and so on........:fingerscrossed:

What if it gets eaten by an albatros, and then stimulates the guts in the right moments and the snail is coming right from above? Best actionmovie i can imagine so far...

there is always a possibility to die everywhere...., an aeroplane could crash in to your home. etc. but those should not be counted.....,
