What is warhammer?
everytome i happen to come across some sort of warhammer game they all look completley different. example: warhammer and times and warhammer 40k. so what the heck actually is warhammer? im so confused.

Warhammer and Warhammer 40k are tabletop wargames. They've been around for like, 30-40some years. Warhammer is the fantasy realm and 40k is the scifi realm.

WarHammer was a huge franchise of tabletop war games during the '80s and '90s. It survived into the 2000s and is still alive today, although the game now is a wreck compared to what it used to be. Think of it like Dungeons and Dragons and you're getting close.

Three main games exist, there's Warhammer 40K which is a kind of Sci-Fi with Steampunk undertones. Warhammer Fantasy is a Fantasy/Medieval version of 40K with all same factions and tropes, but swords and sorcery instead of guns and sorcery. Battlefleet Gothic is a space battle game set in the 40K universe.

Actually, after rereading your question I get what you are asking better. If I'm correct, you're confused as to how the Steam Punk like WH exists while the Space Marine WH also exists.

Warhammer's heyday was from the '80s into the mid '90s. I wouldn't bother with it today, the PC games are alright but there are better RTS out there and overall franchise is at breaking point. It's a greedy and overly expensive game and the rulesets have been increasingly awful over the last decade.

first HERESY.....tabletop dice rolling/Card game based on Space Hulk,tabletop games are better than PC games anyday....cause your friends cheat using the Demon Of Khorne..... 800 point army my ass
