Idk never watched it never will :steammocking:
The community, I suppose. You know the ones; the people who revere it like a religion.

It's not anime that's the problem, it's the community.
I see no problem with it.
I like some animes, but not the ones where the girls are all high pitched squeaky toys in an attempt to seem cute.

I can tolerate the poor animation, but it's the melodramatic dialogue that annoys me the most.
Especially if all characters are constantly explaining what they are doing.

Basically the reason why any fandom at all is ever hated. It's usually because of impressions of the community.

Not all animes are like that though

The community is half the problem though; there's also the fact that people (who don't watch anime), assume that those aforementioned anime fans are the only people who watch anime.

Edit: fudged up the quote system, sorry.

The girls don't look young enough. Some might even be legal.

I have honestly no idea how someone can manage to find anime with poor animation, out of the 50 I've watched, only 4 are of what you describe.

You should be looking out for studios like Madhouse or Bones, not that I expect you to take interest in doing that, though.

As for OP's question, Anime has been stereotyped to be just hentai/ecchi and the community is kind of ♥♥♥♥. Anything else is really just subjective.
Most of the popular Anime revolve around erotic/random humour, quirky faces and cute characters, which does not interest me.

Of course I do not judge Anime as a whole because of those reasons, since there are animated Japanese shows which I've greatly enjoyed, but my listed reasons are most likely why a lot people dislike Anime.
The biggest problem i have is with all the sexualisation of underage girls.

No, i dont care if she is a witch that is 1000 years old, she acts and looks like a 12 year old.

I acctuely realy enjoy anime, but all the underage girls being used for fanservice disgusts me.

But you need to satisfy the fans, and that's easiest way to do it.

Ok, maybe I was a little harsh. The animation isn't that bad, especially nowadays.
Still curious about which anime you had specifically watched. The animation quality's been upgrading over time, especially with studios that I had mentioned before.

It's also worth to keep in mind that the anime that are to be shown to TV only have a week, so judging it with the standards of movies is a huge stretch.

But I stand by my statement about the melodramatic dialogue. :-P
That's fine, but personally it doesn't bother me all that much.
